Well no luck with Glenfinnan but my ratings (posted on the class 1/2 thread) picked up the winners as third best rated at 40/1 .. why didnt i pick that one !
Nowt for Sunday 4th August - Did like the look of Percys Lad in the 4.35 Chester , but missed the early price due to being too interested in the boxing , and also theres a few in the race looking at it now that could take a hand in the finish and at the price im willing to leave it alone and wait to see what Monday brings
Hey Sean, please tell me you had Uncle Dick today? At least then one of us had him, we've both backed him the last 4/5 times he's run, but I didn't even spot him today and he's won at 28/1, damn it!

4.50 Musselburgh - Shine On Brendan 3/1 Lost / Scarriff 5/1 Lost
Like the look of a couple in this one , first one of those is top weight Shine On Brendan who was a decent second on his last outing at Ayr , does well here at Musselburgh with two wins from his three runs over todays CD and the fact that hes dropping a tad in class wont hurt his chances here. Looks to have a decent enough draw and ground , distance and class all have ticks in the right boxes. Has won from higher marks than todays and i think he stands a solid chance today. Jim Goldie been in good form with a 19% strike rate over the last three weeks , and this season when sending his horses here he has a 14.3% strike rate. PJ McDonald takes the ride and he has a place from his one ride to date on the horse , the second last time out. Has a 15% strike rate in the past three weeks and when teaming up with the trainer over the same period they have a 50% strike rate. The other one i like is Scarriff who comes into this in good nick , not been out of the first three home in his last four races , was a neck second over todays CD last time out and a repeat of that run should see him firmly in the frame here i think. That was his first run over CD , and distance . but has previously run well here and is yet to be unplaced in three starts with a win and two places. Looks to be decently drawn and i think he can go close. Paul Mulrennan in the plate for the second time , looking for his first win on the horse , 19% strike rate in the last three weeks and a 24% strike rate when riding here at Musselburgh this season. Rebecca Menzies has just this one here today and shes been amongst the winners lately and has a 12.5% strike rate along with a profit of +£12.00 when sending her horses here this term.
I know what you mean Sean, you put the work in and one of the horses that was your original list but gets discarded pops up and wins.Bit fed up , Code Purple won the race and was the only other one i considered for the race , but hey ho thats racing .. but i was seriously looking at Calafrio , Bear To Dream / My Kind Of Girl , Protest Rally , and Revenue .. three of which won at 2/1 , 9/1 and 5/1 , and thats p*ssed me off , i really should just go for which ones i think are gonna win rather than delve deeper and deeper into things !
Always go for the gut feeling @Sean , the moment you double guess you're .uckedBit fed up , Code Purple won the race and was the only other one i considered for the race , but hey ho thats racing .. but i was seriously looking at Calafrio , Bear To Dream / My Kind Of Girl , Protest Rally , and Revenue .. three of which won at 2/1 , 9/1 and 5/1 , and thats p*ssed me off , i really should just go for which ones i think are gonna win rather than delve deeper and deeper into things !

I have missed out on 3 winners and a loser this week because maybe I over thought things, but like you said that’s racing

5.15 Ayr - Atomise 7/2 Lost (2nd) / Sound Of Iona 4/1 Non Runner
Like the look of a couple in this one . firstly Atomise , who arrives in decent form , hasnt won for a while now but since returning to action in May of this year shes been on the premises in all six starts to date - 2,3,2,3,3,4 and given that shes placed in both runs over todays CD i expect her to be bang there come the business end of things. Fair fourth last time , Faye McManoman on board that day , Conor Beasley back in the saddle today and he knows the horse well , having ridden him eight times , no win yet but six places and im thinking a wins gotta come sooner rather than later (or thats the theory anyway). Trainer has reached for blinkers for the first time so im hoping that they can work the oracle and with the slight drop in class id say she has to have a decent chance of getting her head in front. Michael Dods in good form at the moment with a 17% strike rate over the last three weeks and when sending his runners to Ayr this season he has a 28.1% strike rate along with a thumping profit of +£68.25, As ive already pointed out Conor Beasley back in the plate today and he has a 14% strike rate in the last couple of weeks and when coming here to ride this term he has a 26.9% strike rate along with a profit of +£8.63. Sound Of Iona is the other one i like , poor effort last time over CD but you can never discount a Jim Goldie runner here at Ayr and she was first and second on her precious two visits to the course , both over CD. Has a win and two places from her eight runs over CD , looks decently drawn and i think she'll be making her presence felt. Trainer does well here and has an 11.7% strike rate at the course overall , has two in the race , Ignac Lamac being the other one , and whilst i wouldnt discount the other runner i think this one is his main hope. Amie Waugh onboard and she has three wins and four places on the mare to date. Shouldnt be far away.
