my speed horses.

I can remember lol O Outlander
as rough as a badgers arse that stuff - was like using sandpaper
well ours was - cannot remember "greaseproof " maybe that was an English thing?
more pampered ?
can only remember it would come handy if plastering - oops
then washing your hands with the carbolic soap
even rougher blue paper towels
Happy Daze
You were lucky at least sandpaper might have more than zero absorbency, the stuff we had would just smear your shit around your arse and up your back and everywhere else. You wouldn’t believe it.
Trust me blue paper towels would be a luxurious alternative to this.

Thanks, gerry gerry.

So far I've only bet with Betfair on the exchange but just accessed the sportsbook section and I can clearly bet from my account on either.

The only race of interest to me tomorrow is the 7.30 Windsor, not that there is a strong bet there from a VDW perspective. So I went to the race section on Betfair sportsbook and they are certainly offering the option of a win bet with money back if second. Presumably they offer more margin for losing when there are more runners than the seven in that race.

The numbers you got, in the two of your races today I analysed, would likely have tempted me into a bet I didn't make. I had - and still have - doubts as to whether Bell Shot can win off 76, but with four places without losing I think I'd have had a go. Not that in the event I'd have won anything if I had.

I now understand why you are happy to have several bets a day, knowing you can't lose if you are not far off.

That's right JennyK JennyK and some time i even have bet for 3places the night before if i feel they will shorten in morning.
Yeah i have one in that race myself 7 30 have four i will go for tomorrow just wait till i see the prices i have put a yankee on for small money to win.
Then i bet them for places and then for cover bets or money back bets as they call them now.
That way if you get the four placed even you have nice line up ,and quiet a lot in the yankee with money back prices you can have 2 or 3 up with one which counts as none runner.
That's how i won quiet a lot couple saturday's ago most won and i had all sort of lines up with none runners and the place lines all up.

Only on this forum can you go from a post that started with "managing risk" and end up at "school toilet nightmares"
Such range of conversation is vitally missing these days (y)
What a start to the day however it reads like some of you young guns had it easy because as a child i recall both of my grand parents had outside loo's with no heating and the toilet paper was rectangles cut from the previous days Daily Mirror threaded on a thick piece of string which was tied to the cistern pipe.

Re B365 they closed my account years ago but they did allow me a good earn before doing so which was far less so with any of the rest, so there is a relevant connection between toilet talk and current day large concern Bookmakers.

Bet365 are an absolute behemoth at managing risk
Every little "advantage" you think your getting............. is in their favour ...... in the "long run"

I doubt many will have been fooled by these type of boosts, it only needed a moment to see betfair were showing a drift was on the cards and to leave well alone, in fairness to 365 these super boosts are sometimes easier to judge and simple enough to guarantee a profit or use them to best effect based on your own judgement for instance FACT TO FILT was 11/8 to 5/2 but very little difference at the time on betfair or other bookies, so if you did fancy the horse and content with in my case £40 then it was a no brainer.
The very fact that with super boosts there is a limit applied tells you they understand it is a gift, all that said i don't bet them blind which i know some do.

Today’s super boost is football, Boca junior v benfica , both teams to score from 19/20 to 7/4. The lay price on betfair is around 5/4 so a free bet at least.

Back in the day when my father was stationed in Tidworth, the house we lived in, the toilet was in the back yard, there was no central heating or double glazing, and a tin bath hung on the wall for your weekly ablutions with carbolic soap, you ended up rosy red.

In the Winter, it was so cold it used to snow in the airing cupboard, and the rising damp was so bad that the mice used to paddle around on the mouse traps.

When bed wetting was compulsory, in the summer when my mum came in and opened the curtains, there used to be two rainbows in the room.

Due to the lack of clothes shops in the garrison, my gear was bought from the Army and Navy store, one day, I went to school dressed as a Japanese Admiral.

Well i must be honest i did not think after not betting a winner my thread would turn to shit but i suppose it would happen some day lol.
But back to reality and as i said i do have four i fancy a bit today and will be covering them in the bets i mentioned above.

5 25 CARLISLE POETS DAWN This is a horse i think has got a lot going for it and i do like to go very close.
The form of this horse behind spioradalta has worked out really well and that was 10fur but won here over this distance which suits and although that form i like was in good ground you could argue it is better on soft, I have no doubt this will go close today.

4 00 CHEPSTOW CONNIE ROSE. This horse is a bit more in and out and usually takes few runs to get going so just could be today as loves here and needs some give in ground which hopefully gets today.
It is not the type of horse i would like for all my style of bets with consistency deffinetly lacking, But i feel worth risk today.

7 30 WINDSOR HAVANAGREATTIME.This horse form when winning at newbury was one i noted and it has worked out really well for me so far.
The only shock was when it got beat its self last time out round here dropped away shockingly for me as fancied it strongly so i am forgiving that and hoping for easy lead here and with 7lb claimer on it who ahs showed up well in his three rides so far this could be big day for jockey.

8 00 WINDSOR PETER THE WOLF. Just beat by hucklebrook and we seen what that done on saturday and is horse i have in book too .
So i bet the horse who finished just behind this one santa savana and finished second for me in better race than this, So form good and should go really well here.

Just stuck my toe into "cover", gerry gerry. Hope I don't stub it.

A poorish class/form horse in the 3.30 Chepstow, Great Blasket, should be able to win this and odds against for 3 places in a six runner race was too tempting.

It should be very useful, gerry gerry, as in most of the races I analyse there is no rock solid VDW class/form horse, so it is usually sit on your hands time re betting.

But almost every race has a VDW class/form horse, from the rock solid to the "I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole".

Only a guess at this stage, of course, but I think that on top of the 10%+ that are rock solid, there may be another 20% I seriously consider before, usually, leaving them. Copper Knight for the race on 21 May comes to mind among those I discussed pre race on the forum. He would of course not have been a winning "cover" but he was pretty sure to go close so, like today's, essentially a bet to nothing and a proportion will undoubtedly win. Great Blasket today was not as attractive from a VDW perspective as Copper Knight on 21 May, but with cover for up to three places in a six horse race at odds against, he suddenly took on a more appealing appearance.

The other race I've analysed is the 7.30 Windsor, where I see you have gone for Havanagreatime. I don't rate him as being a VDW form horse because of his last run. I had Sir Les Patterson as the VDW class/form horse, not a consistent form horse but only a touch short, but he is now a non-runner. Second on class/form I have Durham Castle but only 4th highest on the abilty rating and for a class dropper with not strong enough support key horse-wise. At currently odds on for cover, in a much stronger field relatively than Great Blasket faced, not for me, and hopefully Havanagreattime will win for you.
