I started working on the speed figures for yesterday 6 meetings at 05:30 am and finished at 09.00 am, spending about an hour just on Kibeggan (IRE) card, the workload is just too much to even think about writing my thoughts on the meetings.
The best performance yesterday was Gordon Elliot's Talk Of The Town in the bumper, this was a true run race and Talk Of The Town was at the back of the field, the pace he showed getting up and beating his odds-on stable companion was breathtaking, my initial thoughts were WTF.
TALK OF THE TOWN was very easy to back and appeared to be a bit of a surprise package on debut. He didn't look the finished article but boasting a predominantly Flat pedigree, he had a superior turn of foot to the point-to-point winning second and made it count. He appeared to be at home on the ground and ended up winning pretty readily, suggesting a winners' bumper could be his next target.
