Questions and Answers

Have not been on this for a while, just lately, very lately i have been looking at OR with weight to deal with a class rating for example: if it is a 0 - 75 Handicap and the number 1 horse is say a 74 @9-7 if i take the OR and add the weight to 10 St which is 7lbs then add it to the OR making the class an 81 then use the 81 as a Master Rating and look for horses that have achieved an 81 in its races using the RPR 1 it reduces the number of horses for you to look at if they are not within say 5lbs of that rating

I Will use the 2055 @ Beverley to demonstrate a 3yr old Hdcp 0-75 top weight is carrying 9-8 of an OR of 76 so taking the 6lbs to from the top weight add it to the 76 makes it an 82 then look through all the horses RPR I have 2 horses of interest Crown princess and Night moment CP has not done the 82 but is close with an 81 also has a 5lb claimer on board which i am not keen about so my choice is going to be Night Moment who has done an RPR of 84 .

Have the weight been adjusted by the racing post when a claimer is riding or do we have to adjust them ourselves
If I understand correctly, weight is shown without jockeys claim on the racecards but on results it is shown after deducting the claim. If you meant ratings, then I don’t think ratings take jockeys claim into consideration.

Days since last race is it as important as it used to be My own opinion now is no i do not think it is as important as it used to be due to trainers having better facilities like all weather training facilities there will always be exceptions but my general feeling is i do not put as much importance to it as i once did.

I think it is slightly class race pendant a large Dslr in a group race you expect : know the horses are fit and healthily despite a lay of - other classes I view over 100 days as slightly of putting and the stats do back that up - other than that If I see one horse with an outstanding DSLR amongst a load of relatively recent runners / well it’s a negative but not a def rub out.

Yes markfinn markfinn and pawras pawras i tend to agree with you both class and trainer of big yards tend to be further advanced in fitness
Problem being we don’t know the training regime or riders out public view - many will be given a spin at the course the week or so before with an apparent unknown to the horse rider - second guessing trainers has cost me plenty of winners in the past.

yes markfinn markfinn i think they dont because if they are having a bet the owners/trainers dont want the world to know as would shrink the price before they get their bets on

A question for all the people who do their own Handicaps well i have a few Actually : If people are starting their own Hdcp ratings .
1: What rating would you use as in the OR that the horse as achieved ( if you could show an example that would be awesome ).
2: How would you adjust this rating when the horse has won or been beaten by X number of lengths

Is there a thread about up in class or a chart describing the lbs difference between class im trying to rate horses who have won lets say a class 4 and move up to class 3 what would be a weight given be a chance the horse could win off
