Re the Racing Post app for I Pad - I was told, around 3/4 months ago, that you can re-register with a different e-mail address at the end of your 30 day trial to get another 30 days of the Racing Post for nothing (on an on-going basis).
Haven't done this myself, as don't have an I Pad (have Samsung tablet and the app isn't yet available for Android).
Just thinking you might find this useful (if this is still the case).........

Back to work on Wednesday feeling fully refreshed. Amazing what a week of quality family time will do to make you see things in a different perspective. Good week on the punting front even if i cant seem to find the right one to put up for the tipping comp. Currently heading for a 100% wipeout

Have been greatly enjoying my time round the forum in the last week or two. Some great success' in some of the threads, and not just by the same people. I would suggest to anyone that it's worth taking your time,participating in forum life and earning your invite to the fabled Inner Sanctum. Apart from the various ratings utilities, which are there to protect them from the unscrupulous there is a wealth of information contained within as people post their thoughts and selections for the days racing. This week, in the space of a few hours selections for races appeared in the various threads with the following results :
The Inner Sanctum is NOT the shortcut to untold riches and not every day is as good as that but without doubt earning your way in there WILL make you more knowledgable about your racing and will make you more select about your betting. Knowledge is power.........
This board is just full of quality people coming from different angles with the same results.

Poor week on the gambling front, which this year I'm happy to say is the exception. From looking around the forum it seems, legends apart, I may not be the only one, though I suppose the obvious answer would be that form readers find it easier to adapt to changing conditions as opposed to systemites. It seems only five minutes ago that the going was firm and watering was the order of the day, now one bad storm and the going seems to be changing from firm to soft in a matter of races!
Wolverhampton racing restarts today on the Tapeta surface. I know many people aren't fans of All Weather racing but I for one am quite happy to see it return and I shall be keeping a close eye on the sire stats as they unfold over the coming weeks. It's not often as punters we have the chance to get a march on the bookies but a blank canvas gives us just that opportunity. Bookies being bookies they won't be giving much away but there will be opportunities, the trick is to find them.

I think now with the introduction of Tapeta (not taffeta as I thought) all AW HRB systems are now or should be Track based, as each one is different.
The AW has it's place but I wouldn't want to see 58 sand ovals dotted around the country.
These are the claims for Tapeta. I'm guessing the crowds were small at these meetings:

The recent standard of horses put out there on a couple of the Inner Sanctum threads has been nothing short of amazing. I'm not going to name the guys who do it, but we all know who I'm talking about and the Strike Rate is as good as I've seen.
The standard of a lot of the other threads is pretty top notch too and there are some great guys who are not content just to share their knowledge but to coach and teach others who want to expand their own knowledge. I'm a systemite and that will not change, but my all round understanding of horses, racing and ultimately systems is improving all the time, just by following some of the threads, even if I have little to contribute to them.
What disappoints me most about many of our newbies is how often(if at all) they return. It was recently mooted by someone(a mod?) that many sign up and are never heard from again. One thing I've found from friends,Facebook acquaintances and even Facebook pages/ groups is that the majority just can't be bothered to put the hard work in and find their own way. Most just want tips they can back blindly. Check out the number of pages and Facebook groups belonging to tipsters. Many of us here learnt the hard way, but the demand for quick tips is almost insatiable.
Many people consider the way to making money on the horses is finding more winners, when actually finding less losers can have the same effect.

Managed to knacker my back up at work doing someone elses job......the joys of being a hands on manager. Next time ill just delegate. Anyway im laid up at home for a few days and as luck would have it the wife has decided to decorate the living room so as you can imagine im really her favourite person right now. Not only am i unable to help her, but im also sat around getting under her feet. Seems to me now is as good a time as any to take my free 7 day trial at HRB. My flatstats subscription is always paid yearly and that still has a LONG way to run but ive got a bit of time, my betting accounts are flying at the mo, so if necessary i can make a contribution to keep my HRB account going at whatever level. Looking forward to reading through the "HELP ME" threads on here, but my word does it look deep at first impressions. Almost scarily so......

Sigster - I must admit I found it all rather daunting at first, and even after a few months I'm still discovering new stuff on there !
One of the first things I did was to load up what I could of my existing systems on there - it sort of made a bit more sense then - also the thread 'HRB for novices' is good in that
Chesham walks through how to set up an example system. Apart from that just have a tinker around with it - it'll certainly make the time go quicker while you're laid up - hope you get better soon.

HRB is an amazingly deep tool. Anyone thinking of even looking into it for the first time should definately consider doing their first workings alongside reading this thread http://www.theukbettingforum.co.uk/XenForo/threads/hrb-for-novices.19351/ . Even if you discard your results at the end without saving it gives you a really strong insight into how the system builder works and how to link in with other different parts of the HRB site. Its not hard to see how easy it is to get lost in there. If i dont appear on the forum for the next few weeks send in the sniffer dogs, with some Peroni and a pizza.

Spent hours trawling all the info on this forum and its really amazing. Trying to participate as much as my knowlwdge allows. As for hrb it drives me crazy sometimes...you hit a wall...tear your hair out...then

Sigster I think it is a great product, but I really struggled to get to grips with it when I first started using it, but soon picked it up once I understood the concepts after
jalfrezi helped me out. I think this forum has become a bit of a haven for HRB users and the help now being offered really is outstanding. Don't be shy to ask if there is anything you are not sure about.

Re sigsters ramblings} you've got to appreciate sigster, that many newbies have very limited knowledge and understanding of horse racing, they probably have many great ideas, BUT as most people will acknowledge, when you first start out, you tend to flit from one idea to another, never settling, or giving a system the time it deserves.
Then the other problem is, in a newbies mind, how does HE, a mere novice, teach somebody with so much more experience?
I know that's how I feel sometimes, I'm an old dog and it is hard to learn new tricks, Thera no doubt about that, I find technology hard to cope with, ( spreadsheets, programmes, hrb, it's all Greek to me!! lol)

Tommythetip , but we are very open to new ideas on here, and I think we all have open minds, so if any newbies (or oldies) come up with something a bit 'off the wall' there's no problem with throwing it out there - chances are in amongst all the unworkable ideas there may be be the odd few that inspires someone to work on it and come up with something good.
Nobody is going to criticise anyone for putting forward their thoughts - that's the whole ethos behind this place in that we bounce ideas off each other.

The old adage " can't see the wood for the trees" is probably a good way of putting it. Sometimes those that have been round the block a bit can't see what's right in front of their eyes and a fresh pair of goggles can put a new perspective on things. We have seen newbies come up with ideas on here that in their own right don't work, but then the oldies have been able to refine the original idea with an extra filter, or a slightly different slant on things and hey oh, away we go. Both sides have learnt something and a new idea is born.
I'm with you on the spreadsheets etc tho, I'm a pen and paper man despite knowing my way round a system builder. I might only be 40 years young but there's something oddly comforting about holding a pen and seeing something unfold before you as you write it all down. It's like reading a book in this modern age. With the advent of kindles(other ebook readers are available
) how long before the printed book becomes obsolete? I've been an avid reader all my life and there is something you just can't put a finger on about the smell, the feel and the texture of a book as you read it. Grumpy old man? So my daughter tells me, and she's only six......
