I think it is a great product, but I really struggled to get to grips with it when I first started using it, but soon picked it up once I understood the concepts afterjalfrezi helped me out. I think this forum has become a bit of a haven for HRB users and the help now being offered really is outstanding.
Don't be shy to ask if there is anything you are not sure about.

A few days in and im up for air and a bite to eat.
So first impressions aside what do i think of HRB? Well the system builder is the biggest ive seen, covering all aspects of racing with an unbelievable amount of filters. The freebie information and stats on the site are probably worth the monthly cost alone. Those are BIG positives in my book. In the interests of fairness i should point out what i consider to be negatives though others may disagree. It may be petty but all the windows that keep opening as you navigate around the site are intensely annoying. The system builder is HUGE and quite intimidating and without the help on this forum (big shout out to
Chesham for his contributions on various threads) may well have been too intimidating. I suspect that for many people the initial 3 day(i think) free trial may not be long enough to understand how well it can be used. All things considered i have chucked in a few quid for my first month and have decided to give it a fair crack of the whip. My flatstats subscription runs till April and im happy with how things are working out there at the moment so to get the best use of my money i have decided to concentrate on National Hunt with HRB. Those who know me will know of my allegiance to the flat and then the All weather through the winter so in many respects this is a step into the unknown for me. National Hunt has never really been my thing apart from the occasional punt at festival time. What this basically means is i actually know bugger all about building a system for NH Racing. Yes there are parallels you can draw between the two but basically im treading new ground. The good thing about that is that im learning as i go, so ive started reading a few of my back issues of Racing Ahead, perusing a few racing websites and trawling the odd facebook page. Thankfully i understand the dynamics of navigating my way round a system itself so really its the kernel of ideas im searching for.
At least im not going to get bored while im nursing my bad back.

@Sigster and like you good self NH racing was something that I had not bothered with for many years until researching, using the RSB and now I am even betting in the summer NH months. One thing worth exploring is The Big Race Trends Function for the NH Racing. If you bring up Cheltenham you will see nearly every race with the data already in for about the past 17 years. I quite like this feature as it will narrow the race down to about 3 to 4 main contenders and also quickly get you back into the NH Scene. With the Trends feature you can see if there are any what I Call Key Races that are used as a Prep Race in Past years and later today will post an example up on your blog (it was used Pre Race this year, so know it works live) This year you will have The Paddy Power coming up at Cheltenham and so on as the NH Season gets into full swing for the Winter Months. If you save a Race Trend it is counted separately to your saved sytems and I think you can have many Saved Trend Races.
Since we last swapped Posts, Flatstats has offered Mmebers a free month Trial which I think is a very generous offer and of course via a link thread on the Flatstats Forum,
scipio has joined here and made an excellent start on our Forum and will be a good ambassador on how to get the best out Flatstats with regard Racehorse selection, it also means that the two RSB's can look at the same Race Together and get the positives from both services. I do hope some of the other main FLatstat contributers make the Trip over to our Forum and of course continue to post on their own Forum. I think a visit or too here may give them their Mojo back as there is such a diversity of approaches to racehorse selection on this Forum, it has certainly got my Mojo back.

I have chosen this example of how one might use the Trends Feature as it was posted on this Forum before the outcome of the winner was known, so more likely to be reliable when the same circumstances arise again
With National Hunt and to some extent Flat Races, there are LTO Prep races that I call Key Races or Key Race Courses, as competing in these Key Races or Key Race Courses can unlock the the Race about to be run
Example (Posted Pre Race)

Now this Trend is easy to set up
If you click on Big Race Trends from the HRB Menu and from the drop down menu bring up Aintree and Month April.
Select the Aintree National Meeting -31/2 Mile Handicap Hurdle
The will take you to all the past winners, now click the Query Button
Now This screen appears and click V4 Beta
You will now have this Screen
At this stage if you were researching this race for your own Trends you could use the Breakdown Feature and work which filters you want, i.e. looking at LTO Courses or if certain Origin of Horse is better. As we already know the Filters then just click the Add Button and choose these filters
If you enter Horse Age between 5 & 7, Origin of Horse Ire, Last Run Track Sandown, your scree will look like the one below
Click Qualifiers and I will have to continue on another Post as I have used up my maximum of 10 file uploads on one post

Thats the sort of route i was thinking about. There must be an array of lower trend races that trainers are gunning for. Thanks chesham for what looks like another late night lol

This one worked Live this year and only one qualifier, normally their are several. Not really sure about the Colour aspect and if you taker that out still make a good profit and two extra winners, but at the time I ran the system for this years winner to appear, that is how the system was. I don't think that I would add colour in though and maybe the Trend could be improved before next years race is run

They are similar to systems as they link into V4 Beta, but because they are saved as Trends and not systems, the amount of Trends you can have is unlimited on the Enhanced account. The one thing is that you do not get email alerts for your trends, but then you can see on the Race card if it is a Trends Race.

Sigster No problems just your Custom settings need changing. If you bring up the V4 Beta page up and click the (Customise) Button
From the list below click Customise V4 Calculations
This page will appear and unstick the Average BFSP Box and the BF A/E box
You should then get the full past races when you use the V4 in Trends

Greetings!!!! How are we all?
I find my visits to the forum all too infrequent nowadays. Like a few other guys(who I won't name) have already pointed out, work, a young family, horse racing and sleep don't always mix so well so I prioritise my time better now. Apart from a period of a few weeks I haven't stopped betting on the horses but this forum has (unfortunately) fallen down my list of priorities. It's your own fault for making it so damn interesting and for you all being so knowledgeable. It's easy to read,read and read some more daily, and let my sleep suffer( I'm a night worker and so sleep afternoons/evenings). When I do pop in now the usual suspects,

Franktheform now he's returned are still popping in those winners along with many others, new and old faces(names) alike.
Last night I was bored and couldn't sleep(night off). That bored I had a look down the race cards on HRB and then did a bit of digging in a Chesham stylee looking at micro systems to go with what I had noted down. 8 races got narrowed down to 5 initially, then the digging increased it to seven races and eight horses. I could post the screenshots to back up what I backed but at the end of the day 1) you either believe me or you don't & 2) it might have just been a lucky day anyway. Time will tell.
All horses backed e/w except for Lolla Fincess&prince Daubrelle which were win bets only.

The last four were combined in small stakes e/w doubles and trebles. The only trick I missed today was the reverse forecast in the 7:45, but can't really moan at the returns. Certainly gives me a bit more of a bank to have another look at this tonight. For the disbelievers, read a few of the threads on here, take your time, don't try and run before you can walk. It's no good reading and learning all the valuable lessons the guys are good enough to share on here if you can't actually apply it to your own betting. All this is, and I will share it if it proves to be any good in the long term, is an idea that's been muted in a few places, with some hard digging which Chesham always proves to be so valuable.
Keep searching, the profits are out there!!
