CHELTENHAM 2025

Lecky Watson 20/1

Ouch, that's my bets ravaged. Dancing City jumped beautifully and looked good, one bad jump (but not that bad) and gone, folded like origami - no place for Better Days Ahead either - and no words for Ballyburn (or maybe a poor ride from Paul tbh). Another shocking and very disappointing race (for me anyway).

Hopefully Sean O'Keeffe wins again and I'll luck a decent double - he's got 2 more rides & Sandor Clegane might have a chance @ 16/1.

You are not the only one to have been undone by "hot pots". Here is an extract from one professional's daily message:

"Yesterday. There were 4 hot favourites. Only 2 of the 4 were winners. Today there are 3 of them

Cheltenham 1.20 - Final Demand 6/4
Cheltenham 2.00 - Ballyburn 4/6
Cheltenham 4.00 - Jonbon 10/11

I think all of these horses will win. You could have 3 win double bets. I would suggest an each way treble. That might well horrify many of you especially with 2 places for Ballyburn. But a £1 each way treble (£2 stakes) returns £1.77 if they all place, returns £9.40 if they all win."

Practically every faller or poor jumping round has cost me so far, no doubt most other people too, just feels like the luck isn't going my way/the punters way.

Some massive odds in the places today, few nice winners too. Somehow I managed to scrape £29 up, mostly with the places, and mostly De Bromhead placing, plus Jazzy Matty and Bambino Fever were good results for me. If Quilixios hadn't fallen my De Bromhead E/W bet would have returned a lot more. And all my big cross-festival acca's are down now, but got enough for a good gamble tomorrow. We try again. Good luck.

It's lottery day...good luck finding the winners in these races.

  • Mares = 24 Runners - Pays 4 or 5
  • Jack Richards = 22 Runners - Pays 5 or 6
  • Pertemps = 24 Runners - Pays 6 or 7
  • Ryanair = 9 Runners - Pays 3 or 4
  • Stayers = 13 Runners - Pays 3 or 4
  • Plate = 20 Runners - Pays 4 or 5
  • Kim Muir = 23 Runners - Pays 4 or 5

Alan O'Sullivan (brother of Michael O'Sullivan) is riding the favourite at 17:20 (Walking On Air 7/2), but sure it's only favourite because he's riding.

I'll be having Snowden/Sheehan, Fergal O'Brien, Bromhead, Elliott, Mullins, Lucy Wadham, Venetia Williams and a daft E/W punt on Emma Lavelle.

Cheltenham - Day 3. (GS watered) Mkt odds from 10am.

1.20 Sixandahalf 11/4
2.00 Firefox 4/1
2.40 Jeriko De Reponet 8/1, Henri The Second 20/1
3.20 Il Est Francais 3/1,Fact To File 13/8, Protektorat 6/1
4.00 Teahupoo 7/4, Home By The Lee 6/1
4.40 Jagwar 7/2, Conflated 20/1
5.20 Walking On Air 4/1, Mint Boy 11/1

FUGITIF (SAVER ON GEMIRANDE) 4.40 CHELTENHAM

Fugitif's record in handicap chases at Cheltenham reads 1-7 with a further four places. That improves off marks of 151 or lower to 22213. The win was off 151 and one of the seconds was in this two years ago off 149. He run in the Ryanair last year in which he was pulled up off 157.
He has a look of a horse trained for this. He was fifth in the Paddy Power off 152 before finishing third to Gemirande, giving that horse a stone. He is 8lbs better off with Gemirande for that run. Fugitif was out of his depth last time when sixth in the Grade 2 Denman Chase which has kept him ticking over for this.

A saver on Gemirande is probably prudent given his record over 19.5f-21f on good and good to soft reads 4 wins and 5 places from 10 races. He is 6lbs higher than the highest OR of those wins but he is in the correct physical; burden range. His record improves when carrying 11-4 or less to 112011.

I usually back Fugitif, not been great recently but defo capable at a decent price.

Best day of racing so far yesterday, really enjoyed it, and ended up £14 up, almost back to where I started, but usually Friday is my worst day.

Got to play the ITV7 today, not that anyone has got anywhere near this week so far, but it's £500,000... £1 million if Lulamba wins. Good Luck.

Cheltenham -Day 4 (GS watered) Mkt odds from 10.5am. Selections by expert consensus

1.20 East India Dock 15/8 - Lulamba 9/4, Hello Neighbour 13/2
2.00 Kargese 10/3 - Valgrand 10/1, Spirit D'Aunou 80/1
2.40 Dinoblue 13/8 - Allegrie De Vassy 7/2, Brides Hill 9/2
3.20 The Big Westerner 5/1 - Jet Blue 6/1, Wingmen 10/1
4.00 Galopin Des Champs 4/7 - Banbridge 7/1
4.40 Angels Dawn 3/1 - Willitgoahead 8/1, Angels Breath 100/1
5.20 No Ordinary Joe 10/1 - Kopeck De Me 11/4, Electric 33/1

OMG, 100/1, ruined my acca's for today, I bet everyone is straight out of the ITV7 too.

EDIT: 184 people left in the ITV7 out of 500,000 - who the hell picked a 100/1 for the 1st race in the ITV7, well done like.

Nice 1, forgot I'd put £5 on the following;

80/1 or over @ 4/1

Cheltenham Festival Biggest Winning SP

So will get £25 back from that 100/1 winning, small consolation at least.

Was LULAMBA a little unlucky ?
Point being they were racing a fair way before the start line and he was caught very late.

edit ...commentator just said the same thing.

Yeh maybe a little, I thought Lulamba was going to win it after the last, was gutted. I didn't have the winner in a single bet either.

Golden Horn having a great week, Golden Ace and Poniros, Tony Bloom payed AMO 200k for him, but I bet many thought that East India Dock would be Golden Horn's winner.

What a strange and shocking festival that was, still enjoyed it though, but as always, Friday/today was my worst day, so I ended up about £40 down over the festival. Not too shabby - if Its On The Line had managed to pip Wonderwall in the 2nd to last, and/or Kopeck De Mee had won or even just placed in the last, my JP McManus bet would have returned a lot more and would have just about put me up, but Its On The Line just couldn't quite get there, he did try as he always does, and Kopeck De Mee was just awful.

And Galopin ruined 3 pages of bets, if he'd have won I might just have been up too. Shame he didn't win but good run from Inothewayurthinkin.

Fine margins on the profit/loss which is surprising given the results, that's why I like festivals, just the E/W placers can return decent amounts.

Closest I got to all 7 in one day was 4, rubbish this year. Try again next year.

Yes I read today bookies were trembling at the prospect of Galopin Des Champs winning the Gold Cup, this is how pathetic they are and how pathetic the people writing this shite in the RP are. Denise will be paying herself £500 million next year instead of £400 million .
Millions lost on these ridiculous prices only Lossiemouth and Constitution Hill are fairly priced on this list, the rest were ridiculous even the ones that won.

Bookies will have smashed it. After Constitution Hill and State Man went down (& Brighterdaysahead was shit), they said the bookies had probably just won £10 million+ with all the acca's going down, will have been that and more with the Gold Cup.
