5.00 Pontefract - Rathbone 10/1
Backed this one last coupla times if memory serves , and nada , but the more he loses the more well handicapped hes becoming and i think its only a matter of time before he comes home in front , and at the price i think hes worth a pop to take advantage of his mark. Won and placed from his two starts over this afternoons CD , distance , class , going and draw all look okay to me and the fact that his trainer only sends this one to the meeting catches my eye. Michael Herrington been going well with a 28.6% strike rate in the last month , Tom Eaves also here for just this one , and he has an 18% strike rate over the last couple of weeks , won three times on the horse and placed a further eight times. If putting his best foot forward i think he can definatley go close here.

4.00 Pontefract - Forceful Speed 9/2
Open looking race where a few look to hold serious chances but im siding with Forceful Speed who i think can go close. Had a decent 2023 with three wins from five runs , and i think his re appearance run in April , here over 1m2f , can be written off as i dont think he'd of liked the soft ground and looking at his record hes never run well when the going is soft. Given todays firmer surface , and the fact that hes blew the cobwebs away after that initial outing , i think a better run could well be on the cards. Two wins from his three runs here at Pontefract , and it caught my eye that the only time that hes run over todays distance , he won (Epsom). George Bougheys yard are flying at the moment with a 29% strike rate over the last three weeks , and he does well here at Pontefract with a 30.3% strike rate overall alongside a profit of +£21.03. William Buick in the hot seat , and the only time hes ridden the horse before resulted in a win , here at Pontefract over 1m2f last year. He has a 25% strike rate when coming here to ride and when he and the trainer have teamed up over the last three weeks they have a 20% strike rate.

3.30 Pontefract - Yorkindness 3/1
Probably a mistake but im going to take on the Mark Prescott hotpot with Yorkindness , not been at her best lately but as a result her mark is coming down and the fact that shes three from three here at Pontefract didnt go un noticed , and im hoping that a return to a course she seems to excel at will see her regain the winning thread. Joe Fanning in the plate and he gets on well with the mare winning five times and placing five times from his eighteen rides. Trainer and jockey have an 18% strike rate when partnering in the last three weeks. Whilst the Prescott is obviously a danger i just think that if at her best Yorkindness can definatley give her something to think about.

Fact Or Fable is going the right way after three runs after a 167 day break , was a sound enough fourth last time here at Chepstow and i think another 1lb off in the weights wont hurt his chances and hes beginning to look well weighted to me. Usually runs a decent race round here with three wins and four places from ten outings over this afternoons CD. Going , draw , and class all look in his favour and i think a solid effort could well be on the cards. Trainer JS Moore sends just this one to the meeting and hes enjoying a purple patch at the moment with a 43% strike rate over the past fortnight , Liam Keniry also here for just this one today and hes won on the horse four times to date (along with seven placings). Should be making his presence felt i reckon.

I always back Fact of Fable + Uther Pendragon 12/1 (20:00 @ Bath) stable mate, so I'll be having an owner/trainer double there - J S Moore also has another owner double - Tres Chic 3/1 (17:55 @ Bath - which won well for me last week) + Queue Dos 22/1 (18:25 @ Bath) - J S Moore yankee (with two owner doubles) - one of my only bets for today.

I could be tempted with a Ralph Beckett bet today, otherwise, I've done a few mix bets with Sir Mark Prescott, Ed Walker, Ed Bethell, Charlie Hills, Jack Channon, Rod Millman, Jim Boyle and Stuart Kittow (just a few horses I like because of the form, and I like the trainers).

4.40 Newcastle - Masham Moor 22/1 / Barleybrown 12/1
Like the look of a couple of nicely priced ones in this , first up Masham Moor who could only manage fifth when last seen but im not too disheartened with that effort as that was at Musselburgh and hes yet to win a race on turf , or even place come to that, Before that run he had been acquitting himself well on the artifical surfaces here at Newcastle and at Shuvvel .. hes only won the one race from twelve attempts over this afternoons CD but has placed in another five of them so at least we know he acts on the surface. Has won from higher than todays mark and its only a lb above his last winning mark , so i think he could be in with a shout here. The class and the draw look okay , trainer Simon West here for just this one , as is jockey Paula Muir whose got a decent record aboard the horse with three wins and seven places from seventeen rides , and shes been in solid form lately with a 45.5% strike rate in the last month. MM will have to up his game a tad but i think he can go close here at a nice price. Barleybrown is the other one i like the chances of , one from one over CD and a win and a place from two outings at the course overall. Bit of a tame effort last time after a tardy start when only managing eighth of twelve , the winner (Distinction) has gone in again since , and the second (Star Of St James) was second in his next run. Before that was a respectable 6th / 11 , and prior to those two runs had been running well here and at Wolverhampton after a break - 2,3,1 .. returning to the all weather where hes yet to be unplaced i think he can make his presence felt.

5.15 Newcastle - Cast No Shadow 11/2
Like the chances of Cast No Shadow in this , yet to run a bad race here at Newcastle - 2,4,1 to date and after two poor efforts im hoping that the return to this course helps his chances. Has the assistance of Sylvester De Sousa from the saddle for the first time , which cant hurt any , and hes in decent form at the moment with a 16% strike rate over the last couple of weeks and has a 17.5% strike rate when coming here in the last five years , trainer Hugo Palmer also been amongst the winners with a 16% strike rate over the same period and when sending his horses here this season he has an 18.8% strike rate.

6.45 Hamilton - Hard Solution 10/1
Despite not being in the best of form at the moment i dont think you can write off Hard Solutions chances off in this , won the race last year off the same mark , and also back in 2019 when with David O'Meara so certainly knows his way round here .. two wins and three places from eight runs over CD , draw , mark , going all look fine to me and i think a big run could well be on the cards, Sam James up for the first time and he does well when coming here with a 13% strike rate overall , as does trainer Ruth Carr with a 12% strike rate.

4.30 Newmarket - Able Kane 8/1 / Darkness 6/1
Gonna side with two in this one , firstly Darkness , who i think is gonna go in sooner rather than later , was a decent third last time out and a repeat of that would see him bang there this afternoon. Hasnt won for a while , his last win coming here back in July of last year , but has run well in defeat several times and as i say i think his turn is near , the other one i like is Able Kane who looks like his time could be coming soon as well , fourth last time out and if arriving in the same sort of form then i can see him going close here this afternoon. One from one over CD , and a place and a win from two runs here overall. Has won off higher than todays mark , has the assistance of Oisin Murphy from the plate and he has two wins / three places from hos eight rides to date. Rod Millman sends just this one and hes enjoying a purple patch at the moment with a 26% strike rate in the last two weeks.

5.40 Newmarket - Dereham 13/2
At the price i think it could be worth risking Dereham given that hes won this race for the last two years. Hollie Doyle in the saddle for the first time and i just think that theres every chance that hes been aimed at this race once again.

I've got Masham Moor and Able Kane in a double, hopefully it's a good sign that we've both picked two of the same horses 👍
 
Only one of those races i showed interest in sean, And thats the 4 30 newmarket where i looked at mitrosonfire and havana blue just shows how tough racing is today.
