Manchester U 11.328 v Bournemouth 8.791 2.537 1
Wolverhampton W 10.561 v Arsenal 10.637 -.076 2
Chelsea 10.389 v Watford 9.596 .793 1
Sun 5th.
Burnley 10.007 v Sheffield U 9.721 .286 1
Newcastle U 10.076 v West Ham U 9.703 .373 1
Liverpool 10.639 v Aston V 9.089 1.550 1
Southampton T 10.051 v Manchester C 11.645 -1.594 2
Mon 6th.
Tottenham H 10.085 v Everton 10.083 .002 X
Last matches had 6 correct from the ten selections. Tottenham game looks close this week. ;)

.... the ratings bounced back today, with a creditable five from five correct, with another four matches tomorrow followed by the Spurs match on Monday. So a decent start for this week. ;)

..... so this weeks ratings finished up with a creditable 6 correct from 10 selections and accounting for a very unusual resuly with the Southampton win over Man City and a Tottenham win over Everton, reslts could have been a lot closer. So onwards and upwards towards the next round, and a little closer to cessation of the season which is looming ever so closer. ;)

..... a little bit late with these ratings but they all work out:-
TUES 7th.
Crystal P 9.300 v Chelsea 10.634 -1.334 2
Watford 9.351 v Norwich C 8,653 .698 1
Arsenal 10.909 v Leicester C 10.494 .415 1
WED 8th.
Manchester C 11.352 v Newcastle U 9.998 1.354 1
Sheffield U 9.788 v Wolverhampton W 10.289 -.501 2
West Ham U 9.781 v Burnley 9.940 -.169 2
Brighton & H A 9.684 v Liverpool 10.660 -.980 2
THURS 9th
Bournemouth 8.764 v Tottenham H 10.179 -1.415 2
Everton 9.990 v Southampton T 10.344 -.354 2
Aston V 9.064 v Manchester U 11.355 -2.291 2
West Ham look the closet to a draw this week. ;)

..... these latest bunch of predictions were really a carbon copy of those that went previously. The 60% prediction rate was exactly the same and maybe the Tottenham and Southampton matches could have ended up a little nearer the mark. Still a 60% prediction rate is not too bad at all at the end of the day. ;)

.... the Paul Steele Power Ratings performed quite well in the penultimate week finishing with 7 correct from the ten matches. This week is the final week of this very prolonged season and here are the readings for that final week:-
ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE.
Arsenal 11.002 v Watfoprd 9.113 1.889 1
Burnley 10.366 v Brighton 9.302 1.064 1
Chelsea 9.905 v Wolverhampton W 10.393 -.488 2
Crystal P 8.989 v Tottenham H 10.826 -1.837 2
Everton 9.740 v Bournemouth 9.509 .231 1
Leicester C 10.053 Manchester U 11.131 -1.078 2
Manchester C 12.110 v Norwich C 8.352 3.758 1
Newcastle U 9.263 v Liverpool 10.823 -1.560 2
Southampton T 10.512 v Sheffield U 9.891 .621 1
West Ham U 10.367 v Aston V 9.650 .717 1
I don't think I have ever witnessed such a gap as exists between Manchester City and Norwich 3.758. Looks like it is heading for a cricket score! ;)

.... I have started tracking The Paul Steele Power Ratings for the new season, but as yet there are not enough games played to be of any use or guidance in the current fixture set up. I will probably be posting these after about five matches or so to give things a chance to settle down. ;)

I have done well in the CL / Europa matches in Portugal.
Then dismal with the nations cup.
My first bet for the EPL season was Brighton v. CFC (succesful).

My conclusion is and remains that we must try to catch the bookies napping.
Yesterday for example PAOK Salonika against Benfica.
I placed a small bet on Benfica (1 euro) - lost.
But from the little I watched Benfica was a third division side ! Pre-war football !
Could we have known that however ?
Benfica have a name in Europe (plus the infamous Gutman curse) but this is third division football they play.

..... well you will probably know by now having lost your stake. Could well be a lesson learned which will perhaps lodge in your memory banks! ;)

Yep, know thy enemy.
But ...
Ok, the Salonika fans are over the moon, but that was football from the 1930s era.
10 years ago Benfica were that bad and lost 4-0 to Olympiakos, in Piraeus but in recent years they were playing decent.
Some video tipster I watched was saying that the Portuguese were investing a lot on this match, that they have made good transfers - nonsense.

.... Ok we have the first of this season's Paul Steele Power Ratings based on after 3/4 games which is a tad early and for after the International period.
Games for 17th-19th October.

Last week these ratings predicted Aston Villa to beat Arsenal away, and that happened! ;)

Excel calculation = Goal Difference -Rating Difference between home team and away team + Home adjustment x adjuster = New Home and Away ratings. ;)

Thanks for your comment, I am a beginner

Liverpool Difference home (11 G- 6 GA= 5)-(Liverpool Difference home rating ) 1-1 (Leicester Difference Away rating ) - 0.5 x 0.25

[(11- 6) - (1 - 1) - 0.5] x 0.25 = 1.125 😫😫😫😫

.... you forgot the basics. At the commencement of each season every team starts off on an even mark of 10.00. Then the formula is applied for each and every game. Whatever the difference in each game, for example if the home team wins 2-0 then the home team would get the different plus rating and the away side gets a minus rating subtracted from their current rating.;)
