One race , two selections today so fingers crossed .. could of done a few more but held back tbh , in the 3.00 i homed in on Civil Law and Kings Code but Koy Koy also caught my eye from the shortlist and at the prices of the first two i was happy enough to leave them , Overnight Oats in the 3.35 stood out but at the short price it was easy to skip , 4.05 and four made the short list and considering there is only six runners i thought it wiser to leave the race alone , 4.35 is the race ive bet on , 8 shortlisted for that one and i whittled it down to the two selections and just hope ive made the right decision .. Pessoa in the 5.05 almost made it as a bet but i felt the 7/1 on offer werent enough , i was looking for around 10/1+ but hey ho it is what it is .. from the two in the 5.40 that were shortlisted neither really stood out so left them alone

The 4.35 looks very competitive and I would not be confident of getting the winner in a three or four horse book, both realistic given current market prices.

Good cases can be made for each of the first five in the current betting - Hat Toss (the VDW class/form horse in my view), Alzahir, Altmore, Waiting All Night and Brasil Power - but for me the most interesting is Christian David.

Unlike most of the others with chances, Christian David has not been on the go all year but had a long time off until his comeback run a fortnight ago, where on my ratings he showed improvement when pushed up a long way in class from his previous run, when he he had been dropped in class and won. Now dropped in class, to win he will have to show improvement over his last winning performance but on my ratings his last run suggests he might. This time the claimer will be able to benefit from his 3lb, which helps. I see him as having as good a chance as any.

4.35 Wolverhampton - Hat Toss 5/1 Lost / Brasil Power 13/2 Lost

A few of these look as though they could go well but two in particular catch my eye , first one is Hat Toss , who has been running well all year tbh and in his last five races hasnt seen outside of the first three home , beaten a neck by Bravo Zulu last time out over a mile at Leafy , and that form has been franked by the winner going in again since. Placed on sole start here at Wolverhampton , won and placed at the distance , never won in a class 3 before but did come second to Darkness on only try at Sandown so not really worried by that , looks reasonably enough drawn to me , and i think he should be making his presence felt here. Trainer James Owen has been in tremendous form and over the past fortnight he has a 26% strike rate , and when coming here this season he has an eyecatching 32.2% strike rate alongside a +£35.97 profit. The bang inform Hector Crouch takes the ride for the first time , 27% strike rate in the last couple of weeks m and when coming here this season he has a 25.8% strike rate along with a small profit of +£4.75 , caught my eye that when trainer and jockey have teamed up in the last three weeks they come away with a 50% strike rate. Think he should be there or thereabouts come the business end of things. Joint top weight Brasil Power is my other one in this , been running well since coming back from a break , especially the last twice - 1,2 .. won at Kempton in penultimate race over todays distance , and followed that up last time with a head second to Sero Carbon over the same CD , has had a break since then and hopefully he can get off to a winning start , has gone well when returning from a lay off before so not too concerned about the lay off tbh , especially since joining George Bougheys yard - 2,1 (then went to Joseph O'Brien and then Adrian Murray) , then returned to Bougheys stables - 1,1,2,6 .. one from one over todays CD and a win and a place from his two runs at the course overall. Yet to win in todays class or from todays mark but i dont think that should be too much of a problem (hopefully) , decent enough draw imo , and i feel that he should be fighting out the finish. Young claimer Tommie Jakes takes off a handy 5lb , has a 17% strike rate over the last couple of weeks , and has a 17.9% strike rate when riding here this season , and was second on his only ride on the horse to date (last time out) , George Boughey has been doing well when sending his runners here this term with a 18.6% strike rate and a profit of +£41.33 , and when hes teamed up with the jockey in the last three weeks they have a 50% strike rate. Shouldnt be far away.

Bugger ! Gotta admit very disappointed that neither were in the hunt in that one , even more disappointed that Documenting was on the shortlist , although in all honesty i didnt see that one winning so skipped over it .. you live and learn (well you're supposed to . im not sure i do lol) .. Still , not too far in the whole one or two decent winners and hopefully be showing a profit again , onwards and upwards !!

6.00 Wolverhampton - Two Auld Pals 5/1 / Le Rouge Chinois 10/1

At least four or five of these could be given decent chances but im gonna side with a couple who i think can trouble the principals and hopefully go close. First one of those is Two Auld Pals , was running over hurdles when last seen but before that ran his first race on the all weather and acquitted himself very well , coming second by a neck to Dance Time , who likes it on the artificial surfaces so im thinking that was a decent AW debut and that there could possibly be more to come here. Dont think the drop back to 1m6f from that initial AW race will hinder his chances too much , and the fact that trainer Lucinda Russell sends just this here from her Perth base making him the longest traveller at the meeting didnt go un noticed , Sam James booked to ride and hes one from one aboard the horse to date. Think he can be making his presence felt. Le Rouge Chinois been abit out of form the last twice but before that had been running well enough and im hoping that now Alistair Rawlinson is back in the saddle he can get back to winning ways. Horse is coming down in class which has to help his chances here. Jockey has a win and two places from his five rides to date , and has a 13% strike rate when coming here to ply his trade. Horse has placed on sole start here at Wolverhampton , has won and placed at the distance and doesnt look badly drawn to me. Michael Appleby a shrewd operator and his are always worth a second look , with a 12% strike rate round here overall. If on song can definatley be there or thereabouts.

8.00 Wolverhampton - Port Noir 11/2 / Plumette 13/2
Couple in this one for me , firstly , yup , Port Noir , after backing it the last three times i cant let it go without my dough on it just in case ! I can see that this one could well become a bit of a cliff horse if im not careful !! Beaten a head by Molly Valentine last time out over a furlong further with the pair 3 1/2 lengths ahead of the third home , she remains in form and basically everything i wrote about her the last few times still stands .. consistently running well , on the premises in his last seven runs , CD winner (two wins / four places from eight runs) , distance winner , won in the class and she looks to be well berthed to me. Luke Morris back in the saddle and she shouldnt be far away when it matters. Also like the chances of Plumette , hasnt won for a while but has been running respectably all the same , - 4,2,3,2 before last time out when only managing tenth here over 7f but did meet major problems so that run can be forgiven and shes best judged on her previous efforts imho. Two wins and four places from eleven runs over this evenings CD , and does well at the course overall when coming here generally. Won from higher marks than todays , decent draw to my eyes , and has won in todays class. Connor Planas takes off 3lb and he has a place from his two rides to date , David Loughnane has an 18% strike rate over the last coupla weeks and when teaming up with the jockey over the last three weeks they have a 12% strike rate. Should be in the mix i think.

7.30 Wolverhampton - Visibility 16/1 / English Spirit 5/1
Probably p*ssing in the wind with Visibilty but i feel that despite recent form its gonna pop up sooner or later at a decent price and stepping up in distance shouldnt hurt his chances as hes won over todays CD four times to date and placed a further nine times , won off higher than todays mark and i just think given that you cant totally write his chances off at a decent price. Won from much higher than todays mark. Doesnt look badly drawn and like i say i can see him popping up at a price one of these days. English Spirit also catches my eye , five time winner over CD so cant write his chances off. A below par 6th of 10 here over a furlong shorter last time but that could be down to the poor draw and before that won over CD in decent fashion beating Newfangled by a length. Has won off a higher mark than todays and looks much better drawn today so im hopeful of a better run. Jack Mitchell in the plate and hes won/placed on the horse before , and has a 15% strike rate in the last couple of weeks , and riding well here this term with a 12.5% strike rate and a profit of +£24.48. Heather Main been amongst the winners with a 13% strike rate over the last fortnight , and she has a 20% strike rate when sending her runners here this season alongside a healthy +£56.38 profit. Shouldnt be far away,

6.30 Wolverhampton - Bang On The Bell 9/1 / Pure Angel 13/2
Another race and another couple onside , first one is Bang On The Bell whose been a bit hit and miss this term but overall id say that hes been fairly consistent for the most part .. fifth of eight lto at Chelmsford , i hhave a feeling he could do better here at Wolverhampton where five of his seven all weather wins have come (four of those over this evenings CD) , also placed four times over CD as well so obviously has a liking for it round here i think. Coming down in the weights slowly and hes won from a higher mark than todays , draw and class both look okay to me. Catches my eye that Clifford Lee is back on board today and he has a decent record on the horse with four wins and five places from fifteen rides , has a 12% strike rate when coming here to ride. Another thing that caught my eye is the fact that J R Jenkins sends just this one to the meeting. Could go close at a decent price. Pure Angel is the other one i like , only had eight runs to date and her best efforts have both come here at Wolverhampton , with her sole career win and a second , both over CD , only four and lightly raced so there could well be more to come. Had wind surgery and 491 days off before coming a lacklustre eighth at Chelmsford lto but im hoping for a better effort here after that initial run out , trainer James Horton has just this one here and he has 29% strike rate overall when sending his runners here , Adam Farragher onboard for the second time , rode the horse for the first time lto. Think she could go well here if back to her best.

16:00 WOLVERHAMPTON
Havana Sky win bet @ 5/2 BOG.

He has won 4 on the bounce over 6F and as a result the handicapper has raised him by another 6lbs. His LTO win was in a class 5 over C&D carrying 8-9 ridden by Cieren Fallon.

Tomorrow, Hector Crouch takes the ride again. For me the only negative is the increase in weight. IMO I believe LTO was his best performance to date and if he turns up in this frame of mind he will take all the beating dropped back into a class 6.

He ticks all the boxes for me,

18:30 WOLVERHAMPTON

One Night Stand win @13/2

King Of Stars win @17/2

This is a 7 runner race over 5F and early pace is essentially and both of my selections like to run from the front and both have proven form over C&D. The biggest negative for me is that they are drawn widest in stalls 6&7. That said it’s a small field and at the prices I’m happy to take on the two market leaders. I fear Existent the most.

19:00 WOLVERHAMPTON
Come On John win bet @ 7/4 BOG

The price is a bit short for my liking really but I’m hoping it drifts out. He’s been knocking on the door recently and I think connections thought he was going to win LTO. However, he bumped into Busby who won well and was primed for the job.

I think this race looks a bit easier so he should get the win. The main danger for me is Starfighter who I thought had improved and ran well LTO finishing 3rd. He has a 7lb claimer on board which should make him very competitive. I may even have a covering bet if the right price opportunity arises.

19:30 WOLVERHAMPTON
Master Of Combat win bet @ 5/1

He ran quite well LTO finishing 4th at Southwell in a class 4. He is dropped a pound and drops in class tomorrow and back over his favourite course and distance. The race is quite open and at the price I feel he offers some value.

English Spirit is the biggest threat in my mind followed by Plazzo Persico. I may still back English Spirit at 11/2

Well that’s enough from me good night and good luck.

Trying to just add something...

4.00 HAVANA SKY does have the recent form on his side but drawn in 12 might be of concern.

8.00 PLUMETTE not getting the best of runs but her 3rd over c/d 11th nov was a good run in a race that worked out well.

Good luck lads.

Havana Sky won quite easily. Good start to the days betting as that was my strongest bet of the day and whatever happens I’m in profit for the day.

If i could of gotten 5/2 i'd of had a bash at it as well , but when i looked it was around the 15/8 mark so didnt bother

The market had it right in the 18:30 @ Wolves. I was hopeful but that doesn’t win you prizes.

Dismal tbh !

It started so good with a win, followed by a few very close 2nds and a disaster in the sprint. Slight profit on the day only because Havana Sky was my main bet. I was hoping for a whole lot more but Tomorrow’s another day..,,

@Sean I’ve messaged my friend again with the following regarding Admiral D at Newcastle

I have had my biggest bet of the day on Admiral D. I might be wrong but this time last year was he was running in class 2 and won at Kempton in a decent class 2.

Today it’s 10lbs lower in the handicap and the same 7lb claimer that Zip had. Been running pretty good on the turf in higher class. LTO warmup run at Southwell over 7F which isn’t his distance.

I also messaged him about Zip which this year was one of my biggest bets.

Hopefully I’m right

Could be wrong but I’ve had a go at it.
