Do you think sports betting is a useless game?

I wouldn’t invest in any business where the dominant population in 10 years time are zealously religiously opposed to that business and will shut me down then they have power.
I don't want to get in politics here but I think although a possibility is a long way from being set in stone , and how things are are not on a ratchet i.e. they can be reversed if there is the will to do so

I backed one today 1.55 at 10:00am and it's now 1.35 , if bookies can't hack that then they don't really understand what business they're in

The problem is though people are having to use other peoples accounts, people are selling losing accounts, people are going through all the bookies multiple times in all their families names , people are going to the black market, people are having to give bookmakers personal financial information just to get a bet on, punters like Paul Merson are being offered £10,000 free bets to get him started again when he’s at rock bottom from addiction, criminals who have stole money from their employers are allowed to gamble £100,000s without question, criminals are allowed to launder drug money, extra shops were opened all over the country for them to do this on FOBTs. They pay £millions in gambling commission fines as an acceptable cost of running such filthy operations. Genuine punters who threaten to win have their custom turned away disenfranchised from Horse Racing losing them valuable customers they find hard to replace.
For all these reasons and more I DO hate the bookies and can’t wait for them to collapse, it’s happening, it will happen, they will be gone. Racing has every chance of going down with them, that’s a shame but they never ever spoke out for the punter, only ever worrying about the needs of the scum bookies and begging them for scraps.
Bookmakers are a blight on society I see them somewhere between the Wonga payday loans and child grooming gangs on the scum scale.
I have wrote my opinions dozens of times on here of the bookies, I have now made a pact with myself for blood pressure reasons not to mention my opinions of bookmakers ever again, don’t tempt me back in T tacker. It’s like a red rag to a bull.
Paul Merson pisses me off no end, gambles is money away then cries it's not his fault, goes on GMB to protest and when all the sympathy is exhausted from the presenters they go to Andy Peters who explains to every viewer "we want you to win", phone now.
What we're then expected to believe is Mr Merson has written a book, give me a break, two years later he's back again screaming once again it's not his fault, i ask myself who buys these books ?
" having to use other peoples accounts" ?

ask myself who buys these books ?
Not me , no doubt there are lots of people who have cashed in on their faults by writing books , podcasts etc about failure - one you don’t hear much of is Tony Adam’s who I think has opened a clinic to help other addicts , kudos to him if that is correct - other people’s accounts - loads of punters use other people’s accounts to hide their own activities - one bloke I spoke too actually outlined their approach to getting “volunteers “ during freshers week at university .

A good insight into why the AKBets made the Twitter as mentioned earlier.
Waffle , waffle , waffle 20 mins life wasted still have no idea why they would close this account, says he’s closed 30 accounts this month, reckons that would be the lowest of all bookmakers.
My take, they close accounts any excuse they get that are not money making, the whole industry is at it and they are operating a no lose model, they are not bookmakers. People cannot bet and win without extreme scrutiny of their account and inevitable closures. He even mentions break even accounts are no good to them as they are cost losers to them, he even mentions he won’t take £5000 on 1/33 shots, what are you supposed to have on if you are backing a 1/33 , a fiver?
They have every account fully assessed to expected win or lose percentage and they do everything in their power to find a way of getting rid of anyone who isn’t a nice positive for themselves.
If people really realised they are not allowed to win them the whole game is pointless.
Its not even win or lose, their costs and tax implications are factored in , they don‘t even want marginal customers.

Sorry for wasting your time Mike! Gave you a good insight into how they work though.

Link on X I posted is now dead lol.

Have watched the first 20 mins or so.

Yeah they don't even want marginal accounts because of admin costs, quite telling that.
So what about their overrounds???

Punter was someone with "industry experience" i.e. he's heard he's known by other people but that's all the info he has.

Getting 11/2 on something 100/30 or 7/2 elsewhere is hardly the rick of century.
In the end he's trying to excuse bitching sour grapes over taking relatively small bets on markets that had moved slightly out of their favour and they hadn't yet updated their prices on.

If you are on course and you fancy a horse and you see it shortening , you are going to go with the board that hasn't shortened yet and he basically just doesn't accept that situation online.

As soon as the public perception solidifies that bookies will ban anyone that even might win, then they're fkd and horse racing generally because only part of the betting money will go to such as exchanges and the tote.

When did any local shop bookie ever stand 5k on any bet in my (EDITED) memory they all rang bets of to such an extent that that is was hardly viable - also you could see them with all the possible yankees etc laid out and checking them race by race telephone hand at the ready Spoke to one lad ( Ebor meeting) in the hotel bar lost two shops down to an overlooked multiple bet.

He wont take £5000 at 1/33 odds on, liability approx £150

Not all those that shorten win, I've just had a horse that I backed at 2.5 then went off at 1.9 but it was only 3rd.

Even though bookies have their overround which is indifferent to whose money it is , they simply won't countenance they idea of any punters making a profit

" Waffle , Waffle Waffle 20 mins life wasted " ?

I suspect we can squeeze another couple of weeks out of this subject .

First of all how pleasing it is to see the firm put this discussion together the day after and seeking to explain themselves.
Anthony says himself on reflection he can see both sides and perhaps he overreacted to somebody he thought was taking advantage of a stale price, for my part i would agree but they should have sucked it up but warned him.

When he says we only closed 30 accounts this month then he dropped a bollock and it invites far more questions than we had answers, in fact Tony Calvin makes the point that is there any wonder the black market is growing.

Had to close this £5000 @ 1/33 guys account because of turnover tax, doesn’t matter any account that costs them for any reason gets culled.
What a situation - Ridiculous that they acted in that manner and also that had to be a factor they could shift the blame to - not unlike the income tax laws that punish any one from earning just over £100 k they pay all extra in tax until they clear ( i think it’s ) 120k - if the forthcoming budget applies tax to racing profits we will see far more of this . I was told that firms do restrict on the basis of punters constantly withdrawing and then redepositing blaming excessive paperwork and admin but in these days of electronic transfers that must lose some credence as an excuse.
