CHELTENHAM 2026

Class put down Outlander.

Bring on St. Patrick's Thursday....

Race 1 @ 13:20 - Mares Novice Hurdle - 2m

I would favour Ireland over GB in this one (& generally for the day), although GB have won this race three times and whilst I do like Bambino Fever 1/1 and think she will probably win I'll have to take her on at that price. I can/will always do what thousands of other people will do as well and put her together with Jade de Grudy 9/4 @ 14:40 and Fact To File 8/11 @ 16:00 for a Mullins win trixie, maybe add Ballyburn 5/1 @ 15:20 but I just don't like him or how he runs kissing his feet with his head low, he can't see the obstacles coming, so I might just put Ballyburn in a win trixie with Banbridge 11/2 @ 16:00 and Kim Roque 15/2 @ 17:20 (RA Bartlett trixie), just in case.

Oldschool Outlaw 9/2 (JP McManus) has beaten Bambino Fever, her only defeat, so not a bad price to take her on with but I'd like another pick at bigger prices.
Carrigmornaspruce 10/1 is fancied by some (Johnny Dineen) but beaten by Skylight Hustle who fell today, so can't say how that form held up, was running quite well when falling today but I don't think it would have won. Carrigmornaspruce also beaten by Switch From Diesel who got beat by Echoing Silence 12/1, so I think I'm going to rule out Carrigmornaspruce.
La Conquiere 16/1 Jamie Snowden has won it before with You Wear It Well, decent win against Charisma Cat who had decent form going into the race, but then beaten by Ooh Betty, so I think this will be too tough a test.
Future Prospect 22/1 smashed by both Bambino Fever and Carrigmornaspruce, doubt it.
Full of Life 33/1 (Bromhead) I've skipped a few in betting as there's only two others of interest to me, this horse beat Carrigmornaspruce before, so how he can be 33/1 and Carrigmornaspruce 10/1 I'm not, surely the value bet in this race and the one me.
I'd also love to see Manganese 33/1 have a good run for Max Comley.

Race 2 @ 14:00 - Jack Richards Novice Handicap Chase - 2m4f

Sixmilebridge 9/2f was one of my favourite horse before the festival, that and Electric Mason, both have shorted a lot which is annoying, but I still think she will win.
Regent's Stroll 5/1 has beaten Jeriko du Reponet, favourite in the Kim Muir, beaten by Wendigo who fell today when not running that well.
Jordan's Cross 11/2 beat Quebecois before, who ran well yesterday in the Ultima.
Meetmebythesea 6/1 is fancied (by Johnny Dineen and Lydia Hislop) but hasn't beaten much and smashed by Lulamba, don't think this one is for me.
Slade Steel 8/1 previous festival winner, some decent/close 2nd in good races, probably the value bet in this race.
Ol Man Dingle 22/1 skipping a few in the market as he did beat Will The Wise who was 2nd in the Plate.
Gold Dancer 28/1 (Mullins) beat Downmexicoway and 2nd to Romeo Coolio and Final Demand, although, none of that form has held up, might still be the best E/W punt.

Race 3 @ 14:40 - Mares Hurdle - 2m4f

Wodhooh 8/11 should win this, but to take her on, Jade de Grudy 5/2 is a decent horse but beaten by Kala Conti and The Big Westerner so looks like it's no good against opposition of Wodhooh's quality.
Feet Of A Dancer 10/1 was only 2/14L 2nd to Wodhooh before, so might just be the value bet here.
Jetara 33/1 is probably worth a E/W punt, good record placing in G1's & G2's.

Race 4 @ 15:20 - Stayers Hurdle - 3m

Teahupoo 7/2 is till pretty good value really and could easily win it again, he is a class stayer.
Kabral Du Mathan 4/1 is flip flopping as favourite with Teahupoo now, but unproven at the distance, has beaten Jingko Blue, but too short stepping up to distance for 1st time for me.
Ballyburn 5/1 as above, head too low, weirdo but in RA Bartlett trixie just in case.
Ma Shantou 11/2 good GB horse this, good run last time out beating Impose Toi, and beat Doddiethegreat before.
Bob Olinger 13/2 is getting on now but would love it if he got his 5th festival win and not bad a price considering he beat Teahupoo for it last year.

Race 5 @ 16:00 - Ryanair Chase - 2m4f

Fact To File 4/5 should win it really, but he can have an off day, got totally smashed by Gaelic Warrior one day, but totally smashed Gaelic Warrior (plus others) another time, needs taking on.
Banbridge 11/2 is a class horse, 2nd in the King George, JP O'Brien said he was off the Gold Cup, he lied, probably the value in this race given his record.
Impaire Et Passe 6/1 hasn't beaten much really, got beat by Ballyburn, can't be that good but never underestimate Mullins.
Jonbon 7/1 well I'd love for him to get his Cheltenham win, but don't see it, Nicky said he was skipping it and going straight to Aintree, he lied.
Matata 40/1 is my E/W punt, if he gets into a rhythm he could pinch it.

Wow, really tired now/no energy to finish.....

Race 1 - Oldschool Outlaw / Echoing Silence / Full Of Life
Race 2 - Sixmilebridge / Slade Steel
Race 3 - Wodhooh / Feet Of A Dancer
Race 4 - Teahupoo / Ma Shantou / Bob Olinger
Race 5 - Fact To File / Banbridge (maybe punt on Matata)
Race 6 - Electric Mason 10/1 / Absolutely Doyen 12/1 / C'Est Difference 15/2
Race 7 - Waterford Whispers 4/1 / Sandor Clegane 16/1 / Daily Present 16/1 (beat Johnnywho) & as always, Uncle Bert 40/1 E/W (just because I am Uncle Bert)

Trainer(s): De Bromhead, Paul Nolan, Skelton
Owner(s): Kenneth Alexander, RobCor, JP McManus

On this report racing post happy to add the word racially to the abuse allegation
I still feel it is impotant to wait for all the facts to come out, from the bit i heard nico called declan a " fucking prick", not very nice perhaps but we're talking about grown men here and declan was given a one day suspension along with others involved in a shambolic start, i suspect there were many things said in those few minutes.
Nico does tend to come across has a bit of a twat but that doesn't mean he was wrong this afternoon in his criticism of the queally, again happy to wait.

Oh no, Sixmuilebridge isn't running now, I've already put my acca's and got it in a fair few, typical.

Cheltenham

After watching from afar for two days, on the third day I am dipping my toes into proceedings and
placing a couple of bets.

3.20 Teehupoo

The 7/2 available about this good sort looks very fair.

4.00 Jonbon

So many people in racing seen to have an opinion upon Jonbon. What is true is that the horse
is undefeated at this intermediate distance. I believe that Jonbon no longer has the speed to compete
at 2 miles and that the distance of 3 miles simply taxes his somewhat suspect stamina.

Away from Cheltenham and the 11/2 about Moonjid in the 7.30 at Chelmsford represents very sound
value.

Good luck. I've put a big double on but just for the heart, not the head, as I would love Bob Olinger and Jonbon to win, so I've put a ten pound E/W double on, only just worth putting it on E/W, should probably just go for a win but I think they'll both at least place so I 'should' get more than I put on back.

Quite like the old boy, Hung Jury 40/1+ (70.00 on Betfair) 6th Place odds: 5.50 to 6.00

Likes Cheltenham on good ground. Will be staying on (won over 4m), if strong pace, so might get into extra places.

Full Of Life was looking good at one point, can't believe the Kim Bailey horse won, I do have it at 66/1 in a UK trainers bet, but I doubt any of the others will come in so I probably won't get anything back, but you never know.

Obviously nothing returned for Favouri which I backed to win. Absolute lottery as the starts are a shambles. Horses beaten before they have jumped a fence or hurdle and bookmakers still making favs in 20 runner handicaps around 4/1 🤯

stunning work from the Skeltons
2 biggest jackanory bullshit nonsense of the season rewarded
can tell you this if I was the bha handicapper I would have slapped a stone on to both of these horses marks just for their blatant cheek.
games a farce when they can pull off these obvious strokes
nearly every non novice handicap you can’t win if you have won previously in the season, the whole point now is to make sure they don’t win a race all season until the festival.
Saratoga was just as bad directed into the inside bog in Naas.
Why bother having people spotting these running and riding issues and they do nothing about it penalise them where is hurts(the handicap mark)

he handles testing conditions well and also stays well so I was not concerned at all running him in the inside bog guv.
if someone said this to me I would have banned him 6 months just for that statement alone.
They don’t even need to make their explanations make sense.

Just when I needed a bit of luck, a cracking run from Ask Brewster in the last (following a cracking run from White Noise in the 1st)... I tried to attach it but it says file too large and it won't share from mobile or website. I fluked White Noise & Ask Brewster and got 66/1 and 28/1, just typical that they were in a £0.05 E/W yankee. I had £2.20 left after putting my bets on so I put two small stakes E/W yankees on with British outsiders, I got £104 back, thank god, nothing else came in except my Bob Olinger & Jonbon E/W double, I'd put loads on De Bromhead today but he only got one and nothing else came in, Sixmilebridge non runner and Electric Mason useless, so I'm very glad I got lucky with this one, but it could have been one of my big bets instead of the last £0.05 E/W throw away bet I put on.

Willie Mullins whinging about the ground and threatening "not too bother in future" was a total piss take, especially when he still ran 15 today.

What was worse was the brown nosing ITV/ RUK presenters who just nodded along.

Why not ask him what the ground was at Sandown last year when he ran two "class" horses to win the trainers championship ?

Made me laugh when McManus said he thought a lot of him so didn’t want to risk him while simultaneously risking 12 times grade 1 winner Jonbon

Definite wiff of bullshit regarding Fact To File ,if they had watered and it pissed down tonight surely far more horses would have been inconvenienced tomorrow running in a bog. The going was on the soft side of good. Surely they did not expect the track to be watered to accommodate one horse.
