Uk Betting Forum Common Race of Day

Have you asked the person who started this thread MySportsAI MySportsAI and not try to take over the direction of this thread
I am not trying to take over the thread and as for the ownership I would say the people who contribute regularly are the owners they keep the show on the road. Whatever consensus comes forward I would hope that it will influence the direction organically

Surely it is you trying to steer the thread in the direction that you want and as far as I can see the thread has developed organically by itself.
You tried to start your own “Wisdom Of The Crowd “ thread and failed and it appears that you are just trying to use this thread to achieve that goal.

It appears that way to you Chesham

Perhaps they are lets find out
Think they are ( it was started as advert for the forum a way for new members to start posting without any fear of being judged - the common thread will still remain for those are not interested in the culling of their choices - all you need to do is tart a new thread

Race -
Poster -
Choices -

that can be run separately but along side - can it scraped ? does it need scraping there are only about 9 race posts max per day

An aside - I would ask that ALL forum members not use my name ( or anyone else's without permission) in their petty EGO politics - I am not a cats paw , I don't do it and don't believe anyone else should - we have had this nonsense in Open - Inner and The BLOG lost loads of decent posters - please keep you disagreements private - I doubt many are interested in battles of EGO maniacs.

When Joined here I believed it was manners , just like in real life (once read) to acknowledge the originator of a comment or in this case a post - doesnt happen so much these days, I know kids think differently to older folk but that doesnt make them right.

Well you would still be able to participate, what I have suggested does not change anything in terms of playing. Those who would like to see if a wisdom of crowds algorithm could produce something would tag their selection, those that do not would simply input as normal
Excellent idea MySportsAI MySportsAI but all i'm saying is this is the wrong approach, what i think you might want to try is a kind of nap of the day or bet of the day where anyone can post any horse they want rather than a race chosen by another person.
If then you can find something worth exploring for the forum as a whole, then who could argue with that ?

What caused the latest interaction was my starting a thread to find out if people prefer NH or flat or both. The reason for finding this out is that the results could be useful in going forward. I will post more about this later. As for the consensus WOC thing I dont think that is a starter for a variety of reasons or at least not on this thread. As people know I am a regular contributor to this thread and have no intention of hijacking it as one poster suggested

3.43 asc....FASOL
Appears to prefer the quicker ground and 2m rather than the 2.5m lto where he travelled quite well until getting tired, blinkers on first time might help but clearly a difficult race to pick the bones out of.

These high prize hurdles - I think we can take on fact that they are in to win it.

The trends page covers 28 runnings, 1997-2025. All of this is background only; none of it is in the scoring.

Trends - just seen this button on HRB
Age of winner

  • 5yo: 11 winners. 6yo: 10. That’s 21 of 28 (75%).
  • 7yo: 4 (the last two were 2022 and 2023). 4yo: 2. 8yo: 1, in 2005 at Lingfield. No 9yo has won.
  • In the last 10 runnings: five 5yos, three 6yos, two 7yos.
Weight carried
  • 9 of the last 10 winners carried 11-1 or more. The exception was 2023, at 10-11 on soft ground.
  • No winner has carried more than 11-12, so no one has won under 12-0.
Trainers and jockeys with a runner today
  • Chris Gordon: 2 wins (2022 and 2024), the second with Freddie Gordon riding. Today they run Nap Hand.
  • Joe Tizzard and Brendan Powell won it last year. Today they run Rightsotom.
  • Jonjo O’Neill won in 2021 (Gower Prince today). Emma Lavelle won in 2001 and 2010 (Indemnity). Paul Nicholls won in 2006 and 2011 (Fasol).
Going
  • Mostly Good. It’s only been run on Good to Firm three times (2003, 2006, 2007).
Today’s runners that fit both age (5-6yo) and weight (11-1+):
Indemnity (11-10), Gibbs Island (11-5), Messerschmitt (11-4), Hamlets Night (11-4), Morning Mayhem (11-2) and Trustintimes (11-1).
  • Nap Hand fits on age but carries 10-8.
  • Williethebuilder is 7 and would be the first winner to carry 12-0.
One more fact: every winner returned 14/1 or shorter, and the last 10 were all 12/1 or shorter. That’s market data, so I’ve kept it out of the runner list above.

Gibbs Island - Morning Mayhem - Nap Hand

Expecting participants on this thread to approach it in some formal manner isn't going to work and will likely put people off, both existing and potential newbies.

My anecdotal view is that where there is a strong consensus of opinion it leads to higher positive outcomes.

I dunno why there's such a level of back and forth on this, idle hands, there's nothing to stop anyone recording and testing that hypothesis , either publicly or privately

I feel going down the route of screen scrapers would be rather gilding the lily given the relatively low number of selections each race, plus people are going to post how it suits them

A straight forward spreadsheet would suffice, with each row the selected race, then two sets of columns for the overall top selection and 2nd top selection among the group making selections that day. If you also wanted the more granular detail there could be top and 2nd selection columns for participants
see basic mock up below. (well if graphic inserts work)
Once you have it recorded like that you can than analyse it further as desired

Overall 1st selection
Overall 2nd selection

When the fun stops, stop.

26-28 WINNERS CAME FROM TOP 5 IN THE BETTING.
27-28 WINNERS HAD 8 OR LESS RACES OVER THE PAST 365 DAYS

15 of the last 16 have been won with the last loaing year in 2016.

Trustintimnes, Messerschmitt and Gibbs Island qualify.

I will take Messerschmitt who cost new connections 100k. The prize of 32.5k will go some way to getting their money back.
