Two methods of rating?

Using Two methods of rating all 5 horses I found that the 3 starred horses came out best.
Both Methods show Beacon light well out of it.

The more I read this the less it makes sense?

How is the two methods of rating showing he is one of the best but also well out of it?

All I can think is he is using the two sets of ratings in two different ways?

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi FormTheory! vdw could not read form at all because the reason BL did not win that day was because he liked tighter tracks best, plus it had rained all morning and the going was abit to soft for him, so also the reason he failed LTO was the heavy going mainly. He had no proper ratings really that is why he allways shyed away from how he arrived at any of them.

I can see this and i never back on the jumps because i fear for the safety of the horses as i allway explain on any forum i visit.

Hope this Helps!

All the best, Paul.

Hi Sootywooty,

Thankyou for your interest in the thread!

Each to their own but I disagree that V.D.W could not read form.

In fact he had a specific way of doing so, that when you look at the examples he gave in the form book, or even Lee's examples you will be able to see.

I know that what he did worked as I have not got as far as some but my betting has totally changed, and I am hitting winners at a much higher % than I used to before studying the selections he gave.

My Scoop 6 selections did not do great this week though! But I would not usually have been betting in these races as nothing really stood out.

The only real bet I had today was Soul Power who did have all in favour, plus had the De Ja Vu factor that Chesham Chesham is doing so well with in the Inner Sanctum.

V.D.W is not a magical system that instantly gives 80% winners ( not for me anyway ) but I think anyone who read all his articles and looked at the form would know he knew what he was talking about.

He was not looking at any race and just picking the winner.

Take care
Paul.

Hi sootywooty sootywooty

I think the reason BL Lost to Sea Pigeon, was that he had finished behind him the season before at Cheltenham off Level weights, so why would he beat Sea Pigeon this Time. Also he had a Hard Race against Sea Pigeon and was hardly a good prep for the Erin which came two weeks later. PK had run in the Erin before off a Higher weight, hence the Deja Vu aspect.

Hi to you Both! I am going to golf now but will reply to all this in a clearer manner when i get home.

All the best, Paul.

Hi sootywooty sootywooty

Enjoy your Golf, good day for it.

With regards to VDW and his Form Reading Skill or lack of it, I am not really bothered either way. Sea Pigeon beating BL LTO not a shock as he had finished in front of BL Before off levels. Having a Hard race two weeks before what was the Irish Version of The Champion Hurdle at the time, was not something you would condor a good prep, so leaving VDW out of the equation BL was never going to run to his best.

Hi Chesham, Thanks! was a nice day for golf as you say, but slow going because their was to many on the course, plus my brother in law needed to go early because he was going out for a meal.

Yes i agree BL had a hard slog in the heavy going, also i think he went better in soft or better going, and on sharper tracks, as you say he had failed badly on a stiff galloping track like Cheltenham, and Leopardstown is a stiffish galloping track also. So vdw would of needed no ratings to see that or show it even, just a good knowledge of form.

I think the real give away into his dishonest lies was with Ascencia and Rifle Brigade, both going much further in trips, any novice form reader even knows what can happen in such cases. Also even Fulham had no answer to these follies, of course i could go on endlessly with all his examples, Keith Head i think could see this in the end, i know at one time he blamed him in the end of being a bookmaker and even like a rapist of the punters, or mayb some like this sort of mental torture i dont know.

Still that is all i have to say! I have made my point now, so lets hope we can unite and find some winners the easyway. lol!

All the best, Paul.

Hi sootywooty sootywooty

Where as on other Forums VDW has tended to dominate with regards to the number of posts, on this Forum it does not seem to and on the IS, VDW does not feature at all.

Look forward to your contributions and your own personal take on selection method(s) as I enjoyed reading your posts on the other Forum that we belonged to for a short while.

Hi Chesham! They still have not opened the doors for me yet, their only seems the vdw section i can reply to on this section, but running dry! unless to show how bad the other vdw's examples were with form reading, i am only interested in form reading really and allways trying to improve my own also.

Yes i have done it all for for many years and thankfully stayed in the black, of course a few bad patches so i know abit about the practicalities of it all, and can sense when thinks seem to far fetched also.

What happen to Arkle btw! he seemed to try very hard at it all and had an open mind to new ideas.

All the best, Paul.

Hi sootywooty sootywooty

Plenty of good Posts here http://www.theukbettingforum.co.uk/XenForo/forums/tips.35/ which will probably suit you better than the VDW Threads. You will find many post here as well as the Inner Sanctum so will give you chance to get to know them. Arkle is around but is busy at the moment with Business, he is doing fine though.

Hi Sooty, good to see you are here. Please remind me what was the name of the forum where we last had contact. I recall yourself , Chesham and i think DBMB was around as well but i can not remember the forum name. I will be around at some point, but as Chesham has pointed out Ice Creams are selling well at the moment.

Hi arkle55 arkle55

you would first have come accross sooty on the Forum run by our favorite chap skyrack, who I last heard was charging for the pleasure of his Forum lol along with various ratings. I notice that someone with the name Skyrack (Not to be confused with another sky who posts some good stuff most days) is on this Forum, but was last seen around November last year.

On another note I see they put Albert Bridge back on the Flat yesterday, don't know why as probably the conditions were not that good for him.

Hi Chesham. I had forgot about Skyrack's forum, thoses were the days.

I looked at Albert Bridge approx a week ago, R/Post still had Emma Lavelle has the trainer with a entry in the Main staying race at Chester. Alcaeus was also listed for this race. Both horses are no longer entered for this race. I could not access my e-mails yesterday morning so i did not know AB was running. Having had a quick look this morning i can see Rockfella has finished in front of AB again, same course distance and time of year and this time giving lumps of weight. Sent of fav maybe because Civil War has won he's last two races. AB needs the cut in the ground, yesterdays going is recorded as soft, however as you have pointed out to me before he probably needs to be going the other way.

Hi Arkle! I hope you are keeping well, Yes as Chesham says we first all meet on Skys Forum, which was a nice and compacted forum more like this one, we also had a few messages on the UKBT forum but did not seem as good, i think is mainly a tips forum more than form study ideas one.

On Sky's forum i remember me, Yourself, Chesham and DBMB had some good debates and posted some selections to back ourselves up, but DBMB was putting his up on the UKBT as a test trial. I remember you was on around a 66% SR with your two and three in a race method, and think Chesham only put up the one tip and it won, and put another up on the UKBT forum just after Skys forum finished and that won also, and i was trying to explain my methods and put up a few also, as well i had abit of a run in with DBMB because he was running at around a 70% SR with his version of the vdw method, and then had a badish run and finished putting his selections up because of a drop to around 50%, and i stated that yours at 66% and his own at 50% were good, but said yes but should be around 80% because this is a vdw forum.

Are you still hitting the 66% mark btw!

Still also this is a new slate so lets hope we can unite in some good ideas.

All the best, Paul.

Also yes FormTheory sound double dutch to me also! but i think what he was trying to say was with his consistency rating and ability rating added together those three horse came in line for further study.

But then after looking at each ones form BLs seem as though his chances were not that good, but to me though i think he noticed this after the race, judging from the factors he let go by in his other examples, and never really got a grasp of balancing form factors that well.

Ok he knew some of the basics like WL not liking Cheltenham and so on, and he even mentioned how important going into all the factors was, like the course, going, distance, wth in the saddle etc, but in his later examples took no notice of all these and the many more one needs to learn i think.

All the best, Paul.

Hi Sooty. It was a long time ago now and i can not remember your run in with DBMB but i do seem to recall Chesham giving more then one example. Do you still have access to the site in question, if so you could check if you have the time.

Hi Arkle! Thanks for the reply was not much with DBMB really, we are friends now he is posting on this site also now.

Yes with Chesham he did give many examples of how races may pan out as you say, but only gave two definate bets on how a trainer places his horses two win method, i think both won at a around 7/4 prices.

As you may know Skys forum is no more, now and the vdw thread on UKBT has come to an abrupt halt, but as you say gave examples on their but he did not call them definate bets as such only the one.

I only wish he would give a few more. lol!

All the best, Paul.
