Eightthreeone - 7.05 Newbury

His sub-par run at Windsor 26 days ago (6th of 7) came over a sharp 5 furlongs where he was caught out early and never got into top gear. Stepping back up to 6 furlongs today, his best career runs, including his win at Southwell and close 3rd at Windsor in May, have all come over 6f.

Before that 5f blip, he compiled a remarkably consistent handicap form line this spring (1-3-3-2). Operating off an official mark of 68 today, he is just 2 lb above his winning handicap rating from April, proving he is extremely well-treated at this level.

Lightly raced with unexposed upside: As a 3-year-old with only 8 career starts under his belt, he still has far more room for physical progression compared to exposed older handicappers in the field like Mumayaz (7yo) or Phoenix Moon (5yo).

Goes well on quick ground, today's fast surface will hold no fears.

Eve Johnson Houghton has a 23.53% Strike Rate over the last 14 days.

Create - 7.00 Ffos las

Off an official rating of just 47, she is well-weighted if she can recapture anything close to her better turf runs.

Two runs ago she ran as though coming back to form. Last time out made a very poor start and then had no room when making ground.

Scott Dixon has been enjoying a solid summer run (striking at ~13% over the last fortnight),

Honestly it's not a race I have had a bet in, and you'll probably see my record in Class 6 races (check race report) isn't one to write home about currently, nevermind a Classified race. I think Knightmare is quite rightly the FAV after winning LTO, one of only 2 in the race who like to go forward and that's the preferred win/ride style for this track, plus Create not for the first time can be really poor from the stalls.

In truth it's such a bad race, something has to win so....tonight may me the night for Create B billybob :handgestures-thumbup:
 
Artagnan - 2.05 Redcar.

Artagnan possesses a significantly higher back-class than most Class 4 handicappers. As a juvenile, he won at Goodwood and contested the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Prior to his last start, he finished an excellent 4th of 17 at Ascot over 5f on Good to Firm ground in May, off his current mark of 86. He was beaten just two lengths in a competitive field. Repeating that level of form would make him tough to beat here.

Proven Over 6f & Fast Ground: He has solid handicap speed figures at this trip, including a win at Chelmsford over 6f and placed efforts on fast turf at Ascot, York, and Doncaster.

After the last disappointing run, Bughenaim reported to the stewards that the horse "ran completely flat".

If the 61-day summer break has allowed Artagnan to fully freshen up from that "flat" May performance, his raw class gives him every chance in this field.

Jack Nicholls is riding well.
