The Cost Of Living Crisis

Everything is going up in price, it's crazy. I buy things in buy things that will keep in bulk, when they are on offer. So things like coffee, washing up liquid, toilet roll, frozen foods etc.

I read an article that ALDI has become more expensive than Morrison's for general products.

My sister shops for fruit and veg at M&S now. Their prices are competitive with the other supermarkets, and the quality is much better.
 
I certainly don't do all my shopping in one place & buy certain things in bulk from such as Makro

Plus some things I'll get multiple of when they're on offer

For many years now I've been into cooking batches of stuff and storing them in plastic or tin boxes in the freezer, more for the convenience and time optimisation cos I prefer my cooking than cost but it does save money
 
I bought some grapes in Aldi, the grapes had mould on them, so I took them back to the shop. After I pointed out it had made me fill sick and speaking with 3 different people, I got my money refunded and a free packet of grapes

Our doctors has a facility to call you back but when they do all appointments are gone

I don't know or want to the know the law, but, I am a staunch supporter of "cash only", and though I do have cards, I pay only with cash.
Some buses hate this, but, to date, the trains seem happy enough.

A day return to Liverpool from the wilds and with the old codger's discount card cost me £36, which when compared to@ Larry's £23 quid flight to Spain seems dear.
Drinks in the city centre (Celtic Corner) were a fraction of what the prats pay at the course, where they get ripped way before they start betting, imo.

But, almost everything is expensive nowadays; almost everything is less efficient than it was thirty years ago; almost everyone is miserable moaning cnt who feels victimised; most of us are greedy; the least efficicient do best financially, and the whole shebang will continue to get worse.

So, we have to take what we get, even though we'll never grow to like it.

yes, I know from personal experience that even with known cancer, almost every appointment will be two to three months away.

The doctors are quitting and either retiring or going elsewhere. There is a fierce shortage of anyboby who can actually do anything.
This is heart-breaking and demoralising for good nurses who can easily find they have to do 15 hour shifts.

When the war gets hotter, many of us will have an awful shock, especially all those who never hot hardened to work. Carrying all the dead wood will prove not to be sustainable.

I'm off again to work tomorrow, even though I got £10 for two hours work ( in the rain) last week. Must be a sucker, i guess. :D

It'll be alright on the night!:)

Depends who's got the most money to last the campaign trail, Sleepys main supporter Pelosi isn't around anymore so he has no one to be pushing him. I can't wait to see Sleepy on the stage in the debates, he'll be asked a question and give an answer totally not relevant to the question. There's two main Democrat candidates who've thrown their hat into the ring so far, Robert F Kennedy Jr (aged 69) and Marianne Williamson, an author from Texas (aged 70). No youngsters will last the campaign trail unfortunately.

On three different occasions, I’ve bought items that are on the shelves at Sainsbury’s, that were past their use by date. I just buy them, then send a complaint email to their head office. The first time, i got a £30 store voucher. So, when shopping, i always keep an eye out for out of date items.
 
Just wanted to warn people about shrinkflation on Anchor butter.

If you see some that looks surprisingly cheap in your local supermarket, be aware that they have reduced the size from 250g to 200g. At £2 compared to £2.40, that's a 4.2% price increase (on top of the huge price increases we saw last autumn).

Do they think we're idiots and won't notice? I guess they know we'll notice the size reduction but how many people will bother to work out the sums!

I suspect highly paid employees of some manufacturers and retailers will have cynically concluded that a combo of the above means they can get away with profiteering and recommended. Taking your sentence we are being judged as idiots and lazy not the best pay back for many of us who have given years of brand loyalty to those concerned.
 
I don't believe there is much loyalty in the world nowadays, except from zealots who blindly follow dangerous tyrants.
Ukraine is one notable exception.

Cost of living crisis?
Cost of subsidising the lazy leaders who take frequent holidays based on their investments in petrochemicals which nicely top up their overseas tax-dodge cache.

The cost of my gas cylinders have not reduced, whereas the wholesale price has gone back to pre-covid levels with supply being currently plentiful.

Meanwhile the government have seen fit to start taxing my pension. My food bill is tripled.

As for the old trick of cutting size and maintaining or reducing price on favourites, that's nothing new.
Standard practice.
Anybody remember the original size of the old wagon-wheels ( chocolate biscuit thing)? :D
