Spent 2 years training an AI to beat the bookies — free tool, want your honest opinion

Hi all,

I've been lurking here for a while and wanted to share something I've been
working on, mainly to get some honest criticism from people who actually know
what they're doing.

About two years ago I started training a model to predict football results. It
began as a personal project. I wanted to see whether I could get to something
that holds up long term rather than just having good weeks. It's grown into a
small web app since then, and I've made it free. I'm not selling anything,
there's no paid tier, and I'm not asking anyone to sign up for a tipster
service. I built it for myself and figured others might get something out of it.

What it currently does:

Daily football predictions across the major leagues.
NBA predictions.
Automatically generated parlays and accumulators from the day's picks.
A monthly evaluation page so you can see how the model actually performed,
including the losing months.

That last point is the part I care about most. Everything is timestamped before
kick-off and graded automatically afterwards, so nothing gets quietly deleted
when it goes wrong. I'd rather show a flat month honestly than post screenshots
of winners.

I'm under no illusion that beating the bookmakers long term is easy. That's
exactly why I'm posting here instead of just carrying on alone. What I'd really
value:

Does the way I'm presenting results look credible to you, or does something feel
off?

Am I measuring the right things? I track yield rather than hit rate, since
average odds matter more than how often you're right.

Anything obviously missing that you'd expect from a tool like this?

It's at www.betpilot.club if you want to have a look. Happy to answer anything
about how the model works or what data it uses, and equally happy to hear that
it's rubbish, as long as you tell me why.

Cheers

Do you have to have lots of accounts in order to get the prices.

Are your results to bookmaker prices and if so what bookmakers ?

You know I got quiet a bit of flack when I asked to join this forum and yet no one has said a dickie bird about this post....amazing

Says it’s free what is the issue, looks like he’s not selling anything, unless the aim is advertising with plan to charge in future.

I think there are others with websites that people might find useful, I know of one that I frequently look at from a member on here, if is free but requires a log in, as long as someone is not touting for subscriptions then is it not ok ?

betpilot.club betpilot.club Hi looks good going try first bet for today see how it goes 😉
Thanks for giving it a try, and good luck with today's pick!

A quick note on stakes: I've recently added the stake per parlay to the track record, so you can see exactly how much was placed on each one rather than just the results. August was a strong month and I increased my stakes during that period. September has been tougher so far, and I'm currently 5 units down. That's part of the reason I show every month, not just the good ones.

My long-term target is a yield of at least 5%.

There's no need to follow the picks straight away, though. You could just track them(via track record) for a while first, and if you like what you see, start playing. Variance plays a big part in the short term, so it's worth seeing how it performs over a longer run before putting money on it.

Cheers, and let me know how you get on!

Are your results to bookmaker prices and if so what bookmakers ?
Good question. The odds come from SportMonks, my data provider, and they're pulled once before kick-off, when the prediction is published. The results are graded at those prices.

To be clear, they're not closing prices, and they're not the best price across the market. They're simply the price available at the time the pick went out. If no bookmaker has priced a market, that pick gets no odds and isn't counted in the yield.

You should allow people to take a look at it without supplying their email
Fair point, but you don't actually need to sign up to see the results. The Track Record page is public, and under Generated Bets you can see every parlay the model has generated, both upcoming ones that are still pending and past ones that have already been graded.

If you do want to sign up and would rather not use your personal email, a temporary email address works fine. The email is only used to activate the account, I don't ask for anything else, and I have no plans to ever make it paid.
