Back on track as they say, yesterday, and that's positive. Today I am going out on a limb at my home Flat turf track Chester even though I would prefer more overall recent outings, so it may be just a watching brief today. I am including the trainer and jockey ratings for thepast 12 months to see if tyhat gives more of a clue, but you can't win 'em all, as we know. I see Ollie Sangster has a runner and I started my National Service at Colchester with his grandfather in 1954, the only private soldier to have his own car in the Battalion at the time - a green frog-eyed, 2 seater Sprite, in Britiish racing green - seems like yesterday  .

As far as I am concerned this approach can work well for punters and yesterday's results confirm that point of view. I shall not post further examples for now as there does not appear to be a lot of interest. However, if anyone would like a race assessing in this manner I would be happy to oblige as I am on here most days faffing about. Cheers!

K Kraldrew, sorry I missed that yesterday. However I wouldn't have assessed it as I really prefer small fields where at least 80% have had at least two runs in the current season. Difficult at this time of the year and of course June to August on the Flat turf is usually my happy hunting ground for favourites.

M Michael, strictly speaking weekends and festivals where historically form has been more consistent. However, on other days I often take a leaf out of VDW's book and consider the highest prize race at all courses on the UK mainland.

Let's do York and watch it on the telly FOR SOMETHING TO DO.

2.20 Klassleader 18 (9/4)
2.55 Binhareer 8 (7/2)
3.30 Aramram 10 (17/2)
4.05 Legal Lgacy 16 (11/10)
4.40 Alnajashi 18 (6/1), Inishbeg 18 (6/1)
5.15 Mafting 18 (9/1)

Hot day, so I hope they take every care with the horses. Will just try the Zetland Cup for interest
:)

Redcar (G - GF watering) Mkt odds from 9.20am. Top jockey J Hart.
4.07 Early mkt expected no's 9, 4, 10, 2, 7, 5 indicating an open contest, but likely one from these IMO.

4. Fierce Fortitutude 16 (9/2 mkt)
10. Spoken Truth 10 (9/2) - edited at 105.50am as I made an error copying from my chart - apologies foe that!

Comment: 4 & 10 are my two the other possible being 7. Clouds Hill 9, Jason Hart up.
ATR verdict for comparison.
Spoken Truth was only beaten a head into second at Ripon, but a 4lb rise for that effort has to be a concern. As a result, the vote goes to CLOUDS HILL, who was third off this mark in a competitive event at Newbury and Charlie Johnston's colt remains open to progression. The shortlist is completed by Fierce Fortitude and Rainbow Nebula.

Top Tip: Clouds Hill (7)
Watch out for: Spoken Truth (10)

Expert View Verdict
As ever this is tremendously competitive with most of the field capable of winning it given a fair wind. The most likely though is FIERCE FORTITUDE who is progressing and won here last time. Rainbow Nebula is also on an upward trajectory and looks a serious threat and Salam Dubawi improved up to to 9f last time and could have more to come at this trip.

1-2-3 Selections
Fierce Fortitude (4)Salam Dubawi (6)Rainbow Nebula (5)

I can confirm weather near Musselburgh is dry today with only a few light showers, it gets plenty of wind where it sits, so the course should be drying out all the time. (y)
