Good day with three winners from five at 5/1, 6/1 and 7/1, a decent profit of 16 points and found how I have always understood VDW at it most basic.

Top 3 using another form method and speed ratings was suggested by VDW
First 5/6 in the betting forecast

I get my speed ratings info from informracing.com, anything in bold type (i.e all top three rated inclusive) and they also provide the VDW ratings which gives the top 3 on ability and form for all runners plus a whole load more and well worth the money in my opinion. Been with them for years now and I check their ratings before doing anything else, good thing is you get no betting forecast so you can make your mind up without being prejudiced by what the price may be.

From Horseplayer's figures, Rockweiller would have been eliminated though there is no NH figures for Buckhorn Tom.

Thanks for all replies. You are all about to see the meaning behind beginners luck! I have 5 more for today but some are in big fields so could be tough however they are:

3.50 Redcar Beau Mistral

I did also have Quito De Tresor in the Perth 5.10 but whilst it is in the first 5 prices in the Racing Post b/fc, it is not one of the first 5 named so am leaving this out today. Marginal but have to draw the line somewhere.
 
A new kid on the block trying to cramp my 'style' :D

The new angle selection lost 2pts (£20), debit 5, bank 197.

I was going to post a really interesting piece regarding handicap races, but have to go out shopping, as a result of being prioritised by my better half - but I may come back to it :cool:.

Considered a couple of races and decided on the Goodwood 3.40 over the Perth 5.10

Gabrial - dropped 2lbs ridden kept on one pace 3 of 8 -2.5L on GS
Grandeur - same weight sven wide no impact 7 of 13 -5L Arlington 10f on G.

Decided to overlook the USA run and select Grandeur 3pts (£30) bet.

Hi Nagwa

I am only aware of the Formcast Ratings being used in the Wing And A Prayer type examples and with Canny Danny they were not of much use as they had him top rated but Sporting Life had him 7lbs out of it

Peter Braddock used the Formcast Ratings for all of his examples
