RPR Ratings To Get Winners

A system I've been trialing for several days is based on;
Last time out winner and racing again within 28 days
Top RPR
Same or lower class since previous race
Qualifiers today are;
1.20 Ripon LADY BULLET @ 3.95
2.50 Ripon SCOTTISH SUMMIT @ 5.2
3.00 Yarmouth FLOWER OF THUNDER @ 3.15
5.40 Sandown THE WHIPMASTER @ 4.8
There is one other but odds are too low (for me) - 4.25 Ripon BIRKENHEAD @ 1.64
That's probably put the mockers on this after posting these!

Cockney Rebel Cockney Rebel Hi the problem is i do not take top RPR as read i check to see when it occured for example if its 2 years ago i will take a more recent rpr unless it has shown it is able to achieve or get close to it from recent runs. which when adjusted gives more reliable rating at which it could achieve today. I am not dissing your way if you are doing well with it and it works for you then thats awesome and wish you good luck with your picks.

Yes, I know about that normal RPR, but, originally, I was wondering whether it was the old adjusted rating that I used to find in the the old broadsheets.
Now I realise that K kralken is making his own adjustments. And very successfully!:)

Yes NigelRG NigelRG and T TonCon and S Sandhog the ratings are the highest RPR they have achieved in the past year then adjusted to todays weight as you say it is settling in time at the moment A/W seems better at the mo as it is consistent plus todays Pick was 8lb above his last win which i missed so all round garbage pick

K kralken the Class rating sheets may help you speed this up.

What I have done is taken a recent RPR and adjusted it to todays weight. I have highlighted in yellow the rating taken and the weight it has to carry and adjusted to 140lbs.
All the adjusted RPRs are in red with the top 2 highlighted in blue.

It takes about a minute to rate a race and quicker if you have excel knowledge.

@mimrob Thank you its a juggling act as to which rating to use thats my problem at the mo but looking at the sheet with the 2nd rated winning today maybe a recent one is more advantageous

I’ve been using RPR for some time, at times they can be very consistent and other times I’ve been left scratching my head at the result. I tend to stay away from races with 3 year olds or lightly raced 4 year olds much preferring the older horses with more exposed form trying to find a bit of value if I can but not concerned if my selection process highlights a favourite.

Just because of time constraints and the amount of racing on offer I tend to stick with class 3 & 4 races up to 12 furlongs and don’t like betting in small runner fields, very much a learning process for me and am looking forward to see what this thread throws up and hoping I can contribute to it

This is how I typically go about things, any comments good or bad gratefully received, don’t want to clutter up this thread so I’ll probably start a new one when I analyse my next race

Pont 9.00

Tar Heel 103
Dream Composer 97
Ventura Express 95
Van Gergen 94
Dark Shot 93
Seneca Chief 92
Ginger Jam 91
Ben Macdui 86

Tar Heel his best form in Ireland puts him right in the mix and his recent form over here has him top rated, looks a typical Easterby handicap project whereby his handicap mark has dropped to a level where he is going to win a few races and as a 4 year old theres probably still more to come from him

Dream Composer is rated on his Ascot run albeit on heavy, form tailed off afterwards resulting in a drop in its OR, signs of a revival this season but for me would like to see a bit more before I back him

Ventura Express satisfactory comeback this year and has plenty of course experience, can’t understand why he’s 6-4 at the time of writing and I’m happy to pass him over here as I have him 8lb below my top rated and the poor odds on offer

Van Gerwen I’ve rated the last couple of races he’s run in and haven’t given him much chance only for him to outrun his rating, could do the same today but I don’t rate him high enough for the win purposes

Dark Shot rating comes from end of last season and has come back just below that level this year, has won off this mark before but as a checking method I have in sprints I like to see performances backed up with a decent TS figure which he does not have at moment

Seneca Chief has to overcome a poor run LTO for which I really can’t find an excuse but the odds of 14-1 suggest he wasn’t really expected to get involved, does have course and distance form and the trainer is quoted as saying a repeat of that form gives him a cracking chance

Ginger Jam its rating comes from a recent run which I find is always best and is on a handicap mark where he could take a hand but I have too far behind the top rated for betting purposes

Ben Macdui his best form is from over a year ago on this course but his turf form looks below his AW form which I treat rightly or wrongly as a negative

Bringing all this together I don’t always stick with the top rated but being so far clear and the 6-1 available I’ll be backing Tar Heel today

trecelyn trecelyn Thank you for your input mine is based similar to yours but i am looking for Top Rated Distance winners who Have dropped weight from their last winning run . Feel Free to put your tips up here as it is Rpr related and good luck with your picks. Like you i do not touch 3 yr old form as it does not work out in all age Hdcp so 4yo+ hdcps only for me also
