Off the top of my head, Commander In Chief I think made his debut about 6 weeks before winning the Derby.Question..........Has there been an Epsom derby winner who never ran as a two yr old

Benny The Dip I remember being a top 2yo and odds on for the Group 1 2yo race in Doncaster at the end of the seasonRuler Of The World and Benny The Dip, are the only ones since 1997 who did not race as 2 y-o’s
Your Correct, HRB did not have the 1996 season and BTD did win on debut s a 2 y-oBenny The Dip I remember being a top 2yo and odds on for the Group 1 2yo race in Doncaster at the end of the season
Gonna be honest I only remembered Commander In Chief , I thought Ruler Of The World won the Grand National !! , that one completely passed me by I can’t even remember the horse.Your Correct, HRB did not have the 1996 season and BTD did win on debut s a 2 y-o
That leaves just Ruler Of The World as a Stat buster
If it’s for the Derby I don’t think it will get the distanceThankyou all..........Might have small wager on Drumroll

I think Auguste Rodin will get further than 1 mile as he has already won on Heavy as a 2 y-o over a mile and the Nicks have three Winners over at least 12 fyeah im put off Auguste Rodin for same reason with Rhodedendrom as dam never won further than a mile

Now I know why I got such a big price on Ruler of the World!
The first Derby after they'd flattened the Lonsdale. I was right by the rail on the Hill (side), and saw Ryan flash by, but, then had to spin round to look at the big screen to see if he'd won!
Previously, viewing used to be good, right in the front corner of the Lonsdale next to the fanfare men. I used to queue up at the gate from 7.45 in the morning, to try to get in with the bookies.
A long day, but, I used to get a good view.
Everything changes.![]()
