and today Martin Duffy , keyboardist for Primal Scream and later the Charlatans has died , just 55 years of age , i turned 55 yesterday , bit of a shocker that one

I'm 75 and have had cancer for twenty years.

Just do the best you can is the only way.

Old days were hard, but, food was more nourishing and life-style more active.
There's more "hidden" pollution nowadays.

Pop bands and comedians don't have healthy lives. Even Mick Jagger and Rod Stewart are struggling now.
I dunno how that Tom Jones keeps going. Maybe he had all his illness early on in life.
 
the bloke is a great singer loved the Moody Blues but at the time it was all the Beatles & Stones posted on here somewhere Nights In White Satin again pure class here it is again the bloke could sing well in his 70's

 
Saw the Stones in Hyde Park at age 15 still my favourite band all these years later...great track from the new album "Hackney Diamonds" ( means Broken Glass by the way).

Amazing that Dylan is still sustaining a living from music considering he first blew his harp and strummed away in places like The Gaslight Cafe and Gerdes in the New York folk scene in 1961. He was a force of nature in the 60's and blew everybody away with songs that have changed peoples lives forever. My 2 favourite Dylan eras only span one year - in 65 he toured Europe just with an acoustic and harmonica - the fans were happy, they wanted to hear "folk songs" - a year later a different Dylan returned , wearing Carnaby Suit clothes (loved the polka dot shirt) and turned ELECTRIC with what would become later become THE BAND (RIP Robbie Robertson you were a legend man) - the fans jeered, The Beatles who were in the Albert Hall for the famous "Judas" concert told everyone to calm down, but Dylan didn't care - "Your a Liar" he retorted to the person who shouted out "Judas" then told The Band "Play Fucking Loud" before roaring into "Like A Rolling Stone".
They called that 1966 tour "The Death Tour" as Dylan was doing so much industrial strength speed it nearly killed him, along with the fans who wanted the old Folk stuff but Dylan was on another planet and in hindsight the music was fantastic - Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde became instant classics - one of my favourite tracks from that tour which was documented on film is a fantastic "Ballad of A Thin Man" with Dylan playing piano and sometimes Hammond organ , when he sings the immortal lines "And you know something's happening here but you don't know what it is .......Do you? Mr Jones" - Mr Jones being a euphemism for the baying and jeering crowds. The year before that in 65 he "embarrassed" Dylan "wannabee" Donovan in a London Hotel room although was only showing the kind of songs he had moved onto whilst Donovan was still trying to "Catch The Wind" - that he is still making music - a few years ago the 16 minute opus Murder Most Fowl about the assassination of JFK came out of nowhere and shows he still, as a poet laureate and Nobel Peace Prize winner has the chops.



markfinn markfinn - love Dylan's "theme time" radio hour - also "Chronicles" is an excellent book written by Bobs own hand, not some "ghost writer" - as it happened through his eyes from one of the coolest men to ever have graced this planet.
