General Election Petition

Hi Mike i do not recall something like this previously especially so soon after an Election.............but frankly is it any wonder. ! Starmer and Co appear totally out of touch with the everyday concerns and worries of the very people who helped give them such a big majority. This winter people will die because they are now frightened to turn on there heating and this should never be so.

I suspect that like the vast majority of OAPs the only payment i receive from the DWP is the state pension but apparently this is now classified as a " Benefit " which means that any pensioner who also has 16k in there bank account (s) will now be investigated by newly recruited DWP staff who will also be deploying AI algorithms to cover family friends and acquaintances. While i get the need to reduce benefit fraud imo the former is a total piddle take and begs the question what next. ?

I suspect that because they have such a large majority this new government believe they can do as they please and this is not a healthy situation. !
 
There is a great deal of hypocracy around.

If the Conservatives had stopped the heating money, Labour would have gone ape (shades of Thatcher the milk snatcher). Yet by and large their MPs support it.

Starmer clearly has his hand out for gifts, even specs and dresses for his wife); just as personally corrupt as someTory MPs have been in recent years (and he is hardly a hard-up Labour MP elected as some have been over the years from a relatively low paid job who might genuinely struggle trying to maintain his/her constituency home and somewhere in London for when Parliament is sitting).

The state pension is NOT means tested so you can have as much as you like in the bank and earn as much as you want. Of course you will have to pay tax on any income over your personal allowance just the same as anyone else. Unless of course you are rich enough to engage in tax avoidance/evasion.
 
I normally keep politics close to my chest but anybody wanting to try & take my state pension away (due it aged 67 in 5 years time) then bring it on.

I will take on all comers.

I hope your correct but this is what i have read on the subject.......... Yes, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) classifies the state pension as a benefit

I do not think they intend to take it away but under the legislation Labour are seeking it will mean that your bank will be forced into passing on details about your finances to the DWP when your only crime will be living long enough to start collecting something you have paid for all of your working life. !
 
The State Pension is not a benefit it is an entitlement for what one has paid in all their working life.

To quote Jacob Rees Mogg on his GMB programme not long ago,

"to try to take away the State Pension would see anarchy on our streets"

and I would be leading the charge.

To say I have strong feelings on the matter is an understatement.

pinemarten pinemarten just as they have now means tested the heating allowance then i suspect that doing something simular for the state pension is being looked at. ?

If the legislation is passed and this looks very likely then my understanding is the situation will be that anyone who is receiving a DWP benefit and has 16k savings will have this info passed by there bank to the DWP who will then investigate Re possible fraudulent claims or behaviours and the DWP classify the state pension as a benefit, apparently it is suspected that some OAPs are living abroad without informing the DWP which can affect how much pension they get.
 
In Australia it is my understanding that many do not receive their State Pension & others receive a proportion based on their worth.

The State Pension is a huge cost to the Government of the day & I have no doubt something will happen sometime in the future.

How soon & how drastic is a constant cause for concern for me.

Yet the benefit bill for all those who have never worked & never will continues to grow.

AND the wealthiest in society get richer by the day.

So just hit middle England, all those who hard working people paying their taxes. Just make them pay more.

I can certainly understand the huge interest but what a sorry state of affairs that the need is there so soon. Who can we trust and vote for in the future. ?
 
Future votes - the last election has proven that protest votes just dont work , the next petition should be to change the laws around proportional representation -
 
when they decided to have a state pension they made it a benefit in the legislation to safe gaurd them self for future changes and thats why officially by law it is a benifit, all though it feels like it should be a right for us who worked all our life i never recieved anything of them now i have pension and tiny pension that gets taxed shocking i know.
But i have came to the conclusion it dosnt matter whos in power there all the same lying cheats them self.
