Blended Horse-by-Horse Comments

1. Glory Hyde (IRE)

Draw 13 | Weight: 9-9 | Form: 50151110 | Trainer: Roger Fell | Odds: 28/1Made it 4 wins from 5 starts in cosy fashion at Ripon on her penultimate outing. Found things much tougher off a 4 lb higher mark when down the field behind Magic Boy over C&D last time. Front-running style, but needs to prove she isn't maxed out at this rating (79).

2. Tiva (IRE)

Draw 20 | Weight: 9-9 | Form: 108-52546 | Trainer: David O'Meara | Odds: 33/1Three-time winner last season (mostly at 5f). Hasn't quite kicked on since a promising second at Hamilton in May, though she has been shaping as if a return to 6f will suit. Regular visor refitted today after trying cheekpieces last time, but the wide draw in 20 adds difficulty.

3. Grant Wood (IRE)

Draw 17 | Weight: 9-9 | Form: 0-1148300 | Trainer: Paul Midgley | Odds: 40/1Enhanced his fine Newcastle record with back-to-back AW wins earlier this year and ran well when a close third at Ripon in May. Has disappointed on his last two starts, including over C&D 6 weeks ago. Needs to bounce back.

4. Raatea

Draw 7 | Weight: 9-8 | Form: 0/7710-235 | Trainer: Julie Camacho | Odds: 30/1Solid AW form at Newcastle, including a win in October and decent efforts in early 2026. Off for 134 days since March, but has a history of running well when fresh (encouraging effort in this exact race last season). Drawn well in 7 to stalk the pace.

5. Almarada Prince (IRE)

Draw 14 | Weight: 9-8 | Form: 02-866634 | Trainer: Paul Midgley | Odds: 13/2Working his way back to form for the current yard. Ran a very solid race over C&D 13 days ago when 2¼ lengths 4th of 19 to Magic Boy—likely would have taken 3rd without late interference. Solid frame candidate in current shape.

6. Aberama Gold

Draw 18 | Weight: 9-7 | Form: 41603522 | Trainer: David O'Meara | Odds: 17/2C&D winner who got off the mark for the year at Catterick in April. Has maintained a high level on his last 3 starts, beaten just a neck into 2nd at Catterick 9 days ago. Still 2 lb lower than his last winning mark, though Draw 18 requires smart tactics.

7. HK Fourteen (IRE)

Draw 11 | Weight: 9-6 | Form: 123105-06 | Trainer: Tony Carroll | Odds: 35/1Three-time winner around 5f last season. Likely needed the run when 6th at Windsor in June after a layoff, but has been off another 53 days since and remains 2 lb above his last winning turf mark. Others look sharper.

8. Rajaking

Draw 8 | Weight: 9-6 | Form: 42297-643 | Trainer: T. J. Kent | Odds: 9/2Winless since his first two career starts, but showing strong positive signs for his current stable. Placed 3rd of 10 at Newmarket 20 days ago despite racing exposed without cover. Eased slightly in grade today with Kieran Shoemark up; high on the shortlist.

9. Magic Boy (GER)

Draw 12 | Weight: 9-6 | Form: 32381-241 | Trainer: Nigel Tinkler | Odds: 10/3Key player. Built on a promising Ripon reappearance to storm home in a 19-runner handicap over this C&D 13 days ago. The drop back to 6f suited him down to the ground, and a 4 lb rise looks manageable given his unexposed profile.

10. Fiscal Policy (IRE)

Draw 4 | Weight: 9-5 | Form: 32251320 | Trainer: Ruth Carr | Odds: 22/1Benefited from a strong pace to score at Pontefract last month and followed up with back-to-back places. Left poorly placed over C&D 13 days ago when down the field. Still on a workable mark based on 2025 form if things fall his way from Draw 4.

11. Tolstoy (IRE)

Draw 2 | Weight: 9-4 | Form: 50707-540 | Trainer: Brian Ellison | Odds: 12/1Talented but quirky type who went winless in 2025. Showed a flash of form at Southwell in January before a poor run at Newcastle next time out. Off for 168 days since; watch for market signals on his return from a low draw.

12. Alpha Magic

Draw 19 | Weight: 9-4 | Form: 3010-4800 | Trainer: Michael & David Easterby | Odds: 28/1Won a Hamilton handicap last summer, but hasn't built on a respectable seasonal debut. Beaten 5¼ lengths (11th of 19) behind Magic Boy over C&D last time out and needs a step forward to feature here.

13. Bonnie's Boy

Draw 9 | Weight: 9-3 | Form: 674149-40 | Trainer: Richard & Peter Fahey | Odds: 40/15f Newcastle winner in October. Looked rusty after 5 months off when never dangerous over C&D 41 days ago. Finished 3rd on this card last year, so secondary fitness improvement is expected today.

14. Who Wants Me (IRE)

Draw 15 | Weight: 9-3 | Form: 03304-611 | Trainer: Iain Jardine | Odds: 16/1In career-best form having won at Carlisle (7f) and Ayr (5f) in her last two starts. Arrives seeking a hat-trick, but her tendency to start slowly is a concern in a 22-runner York handicap. First-time cheekpieces fitted.

15. Beattie Is Back

Draw 22 | Weight: 9-2 | Form: 17-642065 | Trainer: Richard & Peter Fahey | Odds: 40/1Best recent effort was a narrow 2nd at Wolverhampton (7f) in February. Fifth of 6 at Ripon over 6f last time out, shaping as though a step back up to 7f is needed. Widest stall in 22 adds to the challenge.

16. Ingleby Archie (IRE)

Draw 5 | Weight: 9-2 | Form: 600-43213 | Trainer: Adrian Nicholls | Odds: 15/2C&D winner who reliably forces the pace. Won at Nottingham in June and backed that up with a solid 3rd of 5 at Hamilton 13 days ago. Back up in class today, but from Draw 5, he is well-placed to front-run and give a bold sight.

17. Sugar Baby

Draw 1 | Weight: 9-1 | Form: 0127-8751 | Trainer: Peter Niven | Odds: 20/14-time winner last season who broke his 2026 duck at Doncaster 34 days ago, staying on strongly. In good heart and holds the rail in Draw 1, making him an interesting longshot option.

18. Educating Rita (IRE)

Draw 6 | Weight: 9-0 | Form: 0304530-0 | Trainer: Philip Kirby | Odds: 50/1Winless since her handicap debut two years ago. Made stable debut for Philip Kirby when down the field over C&D 13 days ago (likely needed the run after 9 months off). Hard to make a case for on recent form.

19. Dicko The Legend (IRE)

Draw 16 | Weight: 8-13 | Form: 75296345 | Trainer: Liam Bailey | Odds: 11/1Loves this specific contest—won this race in both 2024 and 2025. Currently only 1 lb above his last winning mark. Underperformed at Pontefract 7 days ago, but with first-time cheekpieces applied and his course record, he deserves serious respect.

20. Tough Enough

Draw 10 | Weight: 8-12 | Form: 046-02064 | Trainer: Antony Brittain | Odds: 50/1Long losing streak continues, though he ran respectably when 4th at Southwell (7f) 19 days ago. Weight continues to ease, but this is a much stiffer assignment than his recent outings.

21. Spirit Of Applause

Draw 3 | Weight: 8-12 | Form: 17433-433 | Trainer: Tim Easterby | Odds: 22/1Very consistent performer who ran a close 3rd of 10 at Doncaster (5.6f) 15 days ago. Up in grade here, but well-drawn in Stall 3 and reliable enough to give another honest running.

22. Dorney Lake

Draw 21 | Weight: 8-11 | Form: 35685712 | Trainer: Liam Bailey | Odds: 16/1Capitalised on a reduced mark to win at Doncaster early this month, then backed it up with a 2nd under a penalty at Pontefract last week. In fine form, but faces a tough task from Stall 21 step up in grade.
