Eric Bowers narrowing the field

Sorry I thought peach was editor of the sporting chronicle handicap book that the vdw letters originally appeared as well. I always thought that it was believed that he was the real vdw and was all a hoax. Anyway i just realised you are no doubt watching the racing so wont bother you again good luck.

No Tony Peach was not VDW. VDW was a man from Lincolnshire who had a few names there is a thread on here somewhere explaining all .
For some reason I always thought that nobody knew for certain. And there were loads of conspiracy like theories.

There was a member of this Forum who investigated and located him in Lincolnshire he is not Dutch he was to young to be in the army when he said he was his money came from inheritance rather than won on the horses etc the list goes on

So VDW was a charlatan. What a surprise. Was Tony Peach complicit or did he know the full SP. It doesn't reflect well on the Sporting Chronicle Handicap Book which I used to look forward to each week. We're all wiser today. Or are we?

8.00 Bev. My ai take on Bowers

Bowers Cut-Off Analysis

  • The Threshold: In a smaller field like this 9-runner sprint, we are aiming to refine the field down to a tight choice of 5 or 6 primary contenders.
  • The Pivot Decision: Look at the jump after Ay Gee Ell (15.0). Lord Abama drops down to 16.0 (heavily penalized by carrying $10\text{ lbs}$ less than top-weight while out of form), and Dream Deal drifts out to 22.50 with a massive $14\text{ lb}$ structural discrepancy. Dropping these two bottom-weights leaves you with a competitive, highly active shortlist of 7.

4. Is it a Balanced Handicap or a Condensed Trap?

This is a highly favorable, beautifully balanced Bowers handicap.

Unlike the previous 19:30 race on the card, the handicapper has set up a brilliant, natural staircase here.

  • The top weight is $135\text{ lbs}$ and the bottom weight is $121\text{ lbs}$, giving us a healthy, genuine $14\text{ lb}$ spread across only 9 runners.
  • The field midpoint runner (#5 Ay Gee Ell) carries 9st 6lb ($132\text{ lbs}$). This sits beautifully close to the mathematical median weight of the race ($128\text{ lbs}$), meaning the weight is distributed organically rather than stacked against the ceiling.
Strategic Takeaway: This is exactly the kind of race where Eric Bowers' logic shines. Because the handicap is true, the class horses on the upper half of the racecard hold a genuine structural advantage over the out-of-form light-weights.

The low ratings on #1 Keldeo (5.00), #3 Fierce (7.50), and the well-fancied C&D winner #7 Azuinthejungle (7.75) point directly to where the winning kinetic energy lives. Keep an eye on the draw as well; the high-drawn class horses (Miss Brazen in 9 and Keldeo in 8) will likely blaze across to grab the favored high-rail advantage early on.
