Daily Racing Insight

Excellent analysis.
Hard to go against your opinion.
However.
Where’s Freddy is my personal very tentative selection almost fits the profile may have had his prep race here last time and owned by a local Newmarket business too .

PAGGANE 1.32 CARLISLE

Marie Donnelly, previous owner, sent Paggane, who was trained by Willie Mullins, to the sales in the summer and she was sold to Charlie Shanahan for 100k. Clearly connections see her as a broodmare given her previous record but she can repay some of that money on the track before she goes to the paddocks. Ronnie Bartlett owns the mare in partnership and its interesting he sent Paggane to Faye Bramley who trains out of AP McCoy's yard in Lambourn. Must have been McCoy's influence as Bartlett usually sends his horses to Gordon Elliot.

Paggane has top class form. Last December she was beaten 3ls by Bioluminescence in a Grade 2 at Limerick. The winner has since finished second to the ill fated Dancing City and second to Spindleberry in the Coolreevy. Spindleberry went on to win the Grade 1 Willowarm Gold Cup at Fairyhouse.
Behind Paggane at Limerick was Shecouldbeanything who finished third in the Grade 2 Liberthine at Cheltenham and third in the Galway Plate.
She had a prep for this in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow when finishing saecond to Rambo T

This is the best form in the race but she has finished second seven times in her last 12 races, one win, and has traded at odds on four times when beaten. Paggane holds an entry in the Coral Cup and she should take this en route before stepping up in distance.

Always thoughtful analysis thanks.
Fits the profile well for today but that is prior to changing trainers .
Personally can’t see further than the favourite but will watch with interest.

Good luck mlmrob mlmrob

I know its a listed race, but I'm sure you can explain ( or anyone please) how it got a 10lb bump in it's chase mark ?

I'm guessing it's the Killarney run, but I can't get my head around that figure .

Jade De Grugy is 150 and looks a mile ahead of Paggane

The winner of the Killarney race got an 8lbs bump so as she was beaten a nose and 13ls back to third I am assuming the Irish Handicapper has given her 8lbs as well taking her to 145.. She run off 137 over hurdles at Chepstow, BHA Performance 142, so I would think the BHA have said have an extra 2lbs on your chase rating.

edit: just checked, she is rated 143 in Ireland but they still have the mare with Willie Mullins.

Thanks mlmrob mlmrob

I thought it was the only reason, but seems harsh.

If you found that confusing, read this: :D

As a result, the horse I like most in here is PAGGANE (1.32), with the ex-Nicky Henderson-trained mare now in the care of Faye Bramley, who herself is a name to note moving forward in the training ranks. The six-year-old has been seen a few times for her new connections since leaving Willie Mullins, most recently outrunning her odds to finish second over hurdles at Chepstow last month behind Rambo T. This return to fences poses no concerns to me, while she is also ground-versatile, and so looks a decent price in the market. Harry Cobden riding is a massive plus, with the jockey having previously won his only ride for Bramley to date.

Great work mlmrob mlmrob

T tacker,

Although described as fragile by Channon he bought the gelding personally off the owner for 200K at the HIT sales.
The 2 recent late withdrawals confirm the fragility.

I agree that this one maybe well handicapped but at the current 2/1 in such a tough race it can win for me.

The most interesting one in this race for me is Chancellor (J. Gosden).
Gelded & wind op' since last seen.
AW debut.
By Kingman.
The trainer has a great record with the sire on the AW.
Reminds me very much of Audience a few years ago.
Has been tickled in the early markets.

The adjusted RPR's leave the 2 mentioned with plenty to find.
That said both are lightly raced with scope to improve their current rating.

Could be a very informative race going forward.

Good luck if you play.

Regards,
