Compiling Speed figures.

Is this a file of the top rated (pre race) horse in each race ?
Can you send me a sample of what you scraped from the RP, not promising but will take a look for you

The files contain every horse in every race, what you see is what was scraped using 2 apps written for me by forum member davejb davejb .

Please do not bother compiling a scraper, my complete speed figure database from 2010 is on the RP server.

"Mike how do you deal with going allowance when it rains?"

When assessing going allowances for any meeting, I start by working out a basic going allowance using the top 3 highest-rated winners using their ORs, and then look at the trends using the comparison of per-furlong times of each race over different distances.

For example, look at the "Allow" column from yesterday's Leicester meeting: 2 different going allowances were used for the sprints and route races.

It took me about 2 years to get my head around the subject of going allowance creation, and the system I use now is unique to me; if anybody else uses rail movement adjustments etc, I would be surprised. I started adjusting in 2015.

If you have a sudden rain deluge during a meeting, I would look at the comparison per furlong times (slow by 4.53s), to see how the race times slowed up from the previous races and then adjust the going allowance to suit.
