Henry De Bromhead is a genius at Cheltenham , his record is incredible , won nearly every race, most races multiple times, punters prices most of the time as well. Had a rubbish season totally out of form but wouldn’t put it past him to have winners again as he always has them ripe for Cheltenham.
I was even looking at his Envoi Allen for the Gold Cup.
11F3123 in grade 1s at the last 7 festivals, last 3 in the Ryanair, not entered for Ryanair this time having a go at the Gold Cup, won a Grade 1 last time out beating Afforable Fury who won the Grade 1 at Leopardstown a month later at Christmas.
Think it’s a positive Envoi Allen comes straight here fresh, negative he’s too old now, probably wouldn’t consider if another trainer but it just looks like he’s taken the horses preparation seriously and targeted this race seriously and could run a place, especially if he stays the trip well enough which is another minor question mark.
Maybe he took one look at last years Gold Cup and wished he’d run in that as it was so bad those horses running amok on the streets of Manchester for the Supreme Leader could have placed last year.
Might be a bit better race this year.

Trying to weigh up various pieces of form from very different tracks on very different ground is a nightmare, throw into the mix that these 2m trials are over different distances all adds up to a very complicated race to evaluate, that in itself might lead one to avoid anything at a short price.
One thing i believe worth considering is what we might expect the time the race will be run in ? Point here is the race will be run be run in something around 3m, 55s so the pace of the race will be a lot quicker than what some of these have encounted which intern puts pressure on the jumping etc.

OLD PARK STAR did a time of 3.47s when winning at haydock 1m.7f 144yds eased down, i think it at least demonstrates he has the pace to cope and did win a trial on the old course here 4m. 179yds in a time of 4m.0.15s, all this tells me is regardless of the odds he's the one to beat

MIGHTY PARK won by 38L on his only hdl start in a time of 4m.10s over dist of 2m, soft ground.

I fully understand that these comparisons are somewhat dubious in nature but i do believe they should be part of any consideratios without taking them too serious but in general we're not coparing like with like with much of the form.

Yet to look at any other runners.

SOBER GLORY leave out the last newbury race where many horses simply coulkdn't handle the ground but his previous win at Newb....
3m. 51.38s ....top speed 35.55s which if any of this makes sense puts him right up there.
That sandown run behind HURRICANE PET needs to be exused especially when we know what OLD PARK STAR did to that winner.

MYDADDYPADDY is a problem not least when we look at the numbers from his hayd win 3m 43.83s, ..TS 34.78s
Was beaten at aintree and i find it difficult see any other reason than not good enough but food for thought.

Conclusion...I find the irish form on the messy side run on testing ground which leaves a lot of unknowns, if MIGHTY PARK wasn't a Mullin's horse i doubt anyone would be backing him at 3/1 so in truth i'm hoping the english horses are well capable, that leaves me thinking OLD PARK STAR is the most likely winner with SOBER GLORY the ew punt, if it wasn't chelts i'd leave it all together.

2.00 ARKLE

Looks to be a two horse race will come down to the jumping.
LULAMBA has done really well and sets a decent standard, having said that this years novice chasing group look very ordinary to me and he still has a bit to prove.
KOPEK DES BORDES was impressive on debut and jumped fine albeit in a fairly steady beginners chase, so while form nothing great he's probably got much more to come if he can put in a clear round.

Conclusion I think KOPEK can win but don't see any value.

Little idea but i thought MYRETOWN won well last year, up 10lbs and a few blips to his form this year, didn't stay lto.

4.00 CHAMP HDL

It's a fascinating race now we've lost the big two and there will be many opinions about the race, i won' repeat what everyone else says because it's been done to death.

One bit of form i can't get out of my head is BRIGHTERDAYAHEAD beating STATE MAN by 30L when the ground was testing and she had a pacemaker to make sure the race was grueling, problem is she flopped in the race last year and despite beating LOSSIEMOUTH lto again in testing conditions the suspicion remains her chance is diminished by the good to soft ground.
Not yet convinced about THE NEW LION over 2m but don't rule him out
LOSSIEMOUTH is very straightforward and of course benefits from the allowance and i can see why she's fav.
I'm amused to see people tipping GOLDEN ACE simply because she needs things to go very wrong again to win again, hope that doesn't happen.

Conclusion...Unless there was something wrong with BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD last year LOSSIE should have the advantage but i'll probably stick with a bit ew BRIGHTER.

Barely knew where to start here but having took notice of the numbers TheBluesBrother shows i felt it necessary to further scrutinise the form of DOWNMEXICOWAY, i don't know anything other that we see in the form but maybe Bromhead feels he's still well handicapped at 145 which didn't change after an impossible task lto over 2m and imo wasn't ridden in a serious atempt at winning over a distance too short but although way behind somehow managed late sectionals to more than match the front two.

Conclusion....Others have already pointed to this yard and this one might well attract some money, around 10/1 atm.

It is an intersting thought but the Irish have been winning the Supreme for over half a century.

In the 50s, Vincent O Brien won it 8 times in 9 years. From 1975 till 1983, the Irish won every Supreme, then British trainers won it for the next seven years. The Irish won six of the first eight run this century.
From 2010, it has been a battle of Henderson and Mullins.
Altior, Shishkin and Constitution Hill for Henderson, Champagne Fever, Douvan, Klassical Dream, Vautour for Mullins.

26-28 winners had finished first or second last time out. Sixteen of those 26 were trained in Leinster.

The emerging trend of horses finishing first or second in a Grade 1 last time has collected seven of the last eight renewals from only 19 selections.

Talkthetalk and Mydaddypaddy qualify this year and I will be loading up on those two on the back of my ante post bet. Idaho Sun would have been a selection had he not got injured.
Talkthetalk would have won the Future Champions at Christmas but for a last hurdle fall and he got back to form when winning the Tattersalls Ireland Grade 1 Hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival.

In the last 5 years he has averaged 33 runners each year.

He has 10 declared Tuesday & eight for Wednesday.

Will he better the 7 winners in 2020?

Well i feel a bit silly now R rbtblb82 but i've long lost the will to listen to these tipsters or trainers via preview nights, for instance " can't have it on my mind", anyway taking notice of others before you look for yourself takes the fun out of it.
