Bookies- I detest the filth

Outlander

Stallion
In a week where skybet seems to have turned into a clone of some other bookie and now I can’t have the pleasure of looking for value prices in Hong Kong for my £5 bets. I’ve finally had enough.
Just like when the c**nts begged us to help them stop affordability checks after inventing them themselves to get rid of winning customers they are now snivelling for punters to help with tax hikes.
I don’t care I wish the end of all bookies , they are parasitic scum and holding racing back by disenfranchising customers, I didnt cry when affordability checks threatened their M.O. of milking criminals and addicts for all their worth then paying gambling commission fines as the acceptable cost of their skulduggery, and I’m not gonna cry for them now they are threatened with more taxes. I don’t care if it affects racing, racing doesn’t care about punters so deserves its fate.

Anyway this guy sums it up in a less ranty , less angry northern chimp way, worth a read imo

Your right O Outlander an excellent article which all members should read. The large chains have dug there own holes and for all of there smart PR have long been treating there customers with contempt. Anyone who bothered to read there constantly " updated " T&C's ( and of course most of us never do until its to late ) would not be doing business with them in the first place because these are now designed to prevent or delay requests for any withdrawals.

The trust between backer and layer which was a mainstay is now disappearing and social even mainstream media is making this known which will reduce the amount of fresh blood these firms need to maintain there turnovers because the potential newbies will rightly be asking if i am not allowed to win or get paid without fuss when i do then what is the point in starting to try. ?

Re the BHA and there predecessors The Jockey Club they have always viewed us punters as a necessary evil to be tolerated but never listened too and if this attitude is now going to seriously bite them in the bum then they only have themselves to blame.

O Outlander - not had any dealings "directly" with these corporate clowns for a number of years now and can only guess that it must be near impossible now to win long term. Even years ago the logistics of trying to get on and get paid "directly" and "indirectly" were huge. Even using the term "bookmaker" now i feel they should be "done" (not just you Fred) with the trade description act with many of the fattest cats being sentenced to a public burning, if not that then at least take them out the back way and have them shot.
I could add many insults and swear words and they would be justified but am not bringing anything new to the glass table. From what i can see that table was smashed up long ago and this is not the first in what will be a long line of sorry situations made inevitable by the actions of a ruthless greedy accounting machine and a completely inept governing body.
FWIW i still absolutely LOVE the game - these cunts don't.

Neither the bookies , bha or racing media want informed punters of any kind, just mushrooms to be harvested
With the first you don't even need to be informed these days - a punter can using either skill or luck go on a little run - if even a small % of those bets within that run have beat the closing SP then it will be flagged up by AI as "suspicious" and go to a jobsworthy young "trading(sic) roomer"
He may decide to bring out the "A" word and attached "loopholes" and no he's not calling you an arsehole, before you know it your involved in a what is technically an "illegal" wrangle involving personal bank statements, bills, employment status and the like before getting your bit's snipped off or reduced to a few shekels every Saturday.

The bit that is so utterly wrong is that instead of asking to know the far end of a shite about you, things I would only divulge for a mortgage app, when you sign up and want to place a bet, they're allowed to do that on an completely arbitary basis if you have or look like you might take money off them.

Yes and apparently betfair / paddy power had a security breach, imagine all that info you have to give them to have a bet being gathered up my some 13yo Russian nerd who can ruin your life.
The levels of spying and info gathering the bookies do would make MI5 blush.
I personally didn’t get the email telling me my data had been hacked, so was it only a subsection of customers ?
These bookies know you better than your own families.
When you die they should do the eulogies.

Are there any positive moves by Pinnacle to open up to Uk punters - been mooted for a while but never happens

Pinny have not made horse racing markets since 2009 Mark - the only time they made them was for mostly US racing, they got slaughtered by insiders - that "slim margin/allow sharps on" model may be ok in stricter run sports but not for US racing.
Seeing that they were re-branded and new peeps at the top, can't imagine them re-thinking that one again. They don't really need the UK market with even sports so cannot see it happening any time soon, although it is pretty easy to get an account open with them - hardest part would be withdrawing any winnings and you may need your "American cousins" to step in lol

Another good read from this Ed Grimshaw chap, certainly calls it what it is .
A bloody good read which sadly all rings true and all punters should read and think about. I was very involved for several years in attempting to challenge increasing Bookmaker poor practice and seeking some positive change, but it is taking on a big powerful dragon who behind closed doors views all of its customers with contempt.

The only solution would be for us punters to work collectively and all withdraw our custom for even a short while. Lets be honest this action would save many of us money and would def cause those who run and rule the sport to change some aspects of the ways they currently view and treat us. I do not anticipate this occurring and neither do they but from the industry figs quoted above perhaps it is now starting to happen gradually. ?
