Aintree Grand National 2023 ratings

The National, at least I have the old favourite top, softer ground make it interesting. Our Power as mentioned in the opening of the thread has the excellent Sam Thomas training but the trip on soft has to be a worry.

Other than Corach Rambler, my bet would be Mr Incredible as the ground is in it's favour.

Final ratings for today's meeting in the PDF. I've produced the Grand National ratings below. For the meeting the Pearson rating between market odds and ratings is 0.76. Noble Yeats is the top rated ELO horse but you can form your own view on whether he's being asked to carry too big a burden. Our Power could be deemed well in, exactly as suggested the other day. On the HRB-Z Gaillard Du Mesnil has a fairly significant advantage and that makes him the top rated overall. May be well handicapped but big ask for a 7 yo novice even with proven grade 1 form - but will he take to the fences.

So obviously the ratings above didn't quite hit the mark in the last two days, but they did identify Midnight River in the pre-National handicap and we also got three of the first four including the winner in the National as well, so not miles away. There is some improvement to be done but this will be captured across other threads going forward and excellent ideas from lots of posters are undoubtedly going to help.
