Good question. I don't really know what it means! What the column is for are horses that re carrying overweight from their original handicap mark. So i suppose overweight is what I meant. The Hare posts this data, I’m unsure what the OWH means, my guess something to do with jockey overweight.
T tacker maybe this would be up your alley, they list past runs with sectionalsI'm very new to Hong Kong racing but would guess ON WEIGHT HANDICAP.
Hello T tacker it was just my addition so just the amount of overweight the jockey put up and then the weight and Hong Kong handicap mark in the next 2 columns are the actual weight carried and the relevant mark they ran off. I just added it to check the numbers added up, sometimes errors on the figures I had collected.I'm very new to Hong Kong racing but would guess ON WEIGHT HANDICAP.
You are learning all the problems with speed ratings in HK.Going Allowance
It's difficult to have a reliable GA in HK. If you base it on the Standard Times, it favors the lower classes. For example, on December 15, Harry's Hero achieves an adjusted SR at 126lbs of around 80 for a horse with an HK rating of 27.
So, should we calculate a GA taking Standard Times by class into account? What is your opinion? Harry's Hero is now SR 35 weight ajusted before the impact of the GA.
Thanks
When you notice your GA, for example -5 does it mean FAST by 5 lbs ?You are learning all the problems with speed ratings in HK.
It‘s impossible for me to help because there is no way to compile speed ratings in the same way as we do in the U.K. and make it work with the HK rating system, it’s not going to make sense mathematically.
I have never tried different standards for different classes, no idea if that solves the problems.
You are correct it always favours bottom weights you would think this could open up an advantage over the HK handicapping scale, but this doesn’t play out in the results. If anything the HK scale holds up to scrutiny.
I have now completely designed my methods around the HK scale and abandoned any thoughts of adjusting their scale into the U.K. scale.
On my workings -5 ga would indicate speeding up by 5 metres per 60 seconds. When you notice your GA, for example -5 does it mean FAST by 5 lbs ?
Not too bad for a first shot :SHA TIN - 2024/12/22
Tomorrow, I will do two tests to see how my ratings react to HK.
R2 - ETALON OR - 5,8/1 bad draw ... (2 WORLD HERO 3 JUNEAU PRIDE)
R10 - RAGING BLIZZARD - 8,2/1 (2 WONDER KIT 3 BEAUTY CHARGE)

1st in the R10 at 13/1 good earnings !
Beginner's luck ... Pick Mickley last week in the R10 too.well doneLa Cressonnière , i didn't have Raging Blizzard ranked close on my speed list

Very sharp bend at the start of the 400 section would be my guess, but that’s the same for the other distances in HVDoes someone know why the last 400m over 8,25f at HP are very slow for a distance around a mile ?
I hadn't really noticed that it was a slower finish time for that distance than the others at HV, As O Outlander mentions all are over the same sharp final bend and run in. I had a look at the sectional times for the last 4oom and it doesn't really look slower than the others.Does someone know why the last 400m over 8,25f at HP are very slow for a distance around a mile ?
