Trixie Method

Bula Bula being of a simular age i can empathize with much of what you say. With one example being at the start of my journey i actively sought the company of self professed " Professional " Backers which proved a rather disillusioning experience as few of them appeared to have much money and plenty of them where after mine.

I have not entered a betting shop for many years but my memories from back in the day are positive on balance with my local Corals being like a social club teeming with your said characters. Recently i mentioned somewhere on this forum my first ever £100 bet which would have been close to 50yrs ago. The horse lost but i do remember obtaining the 4/1 first show board price without any fuss. Try simular now with or without the equivalent in todays money and you would prob be arrested. !

Forum Toppers do not wind me up because they always end up hanging themselves. A while back we had an absolute legend ( imo ) on this forum who amongst his many achievements claimed to have taken Afternoon Tea with VDW, have regular conversations with leading Trainers and better still to have developed " meaningful " relationships with betting shop area managers to facilitate the placing of his 10k bets, of course all may have been true. :)

Anyway we are taking M martin thread off topic which may not be appreciated. Just a thought but have you considered starting a thread of your own. The Bula Bounce .........might suit. ? :) And no one could Top that, although i might try.

Yes, apologies to Martin for going slightly off topic. But just before i go :D , one of my last experiences of a betting shop. I went to visit an old friend who wasnt very well and who lived just 100 yds away from where i lived when i was younger. I called into the betting shop that i used to use in the 80's and 90's but hadnt been in for at least 15 years. I was going to have £25 each way on one and no, it wasnt a bad each way race. If i remember rightly it was something like 9/2 the field and mine was around 10's. But the young kid behind the counter wanted to know who i was, why i wanted to back that one, why he hadnt seen me before etc etc. I told him the reason he hadnt seen me before was because he wasnt ******* born when i was last in that shop. (Fill in the stars with whatever letters you like :D ).
Was it a tip he also asked me and wanted to know why i was backing that certain one. In the end i just gave up and walked out.
Like you say, and we all know, go back to the 70's, 80's etc and you got those type of bets on, no questions asked.
Its like the Spanish Inquisition these days.

And it was in Ladcrooks before you ask. :D

Apologies again Martin.
