To P or not to P [ i.e. - progressive retrieval staking ]

After 3 months of American sports progressive wagering (4 steps only) I have finished with a profit of 24pts and am currently half way through a progression! I got to +25.82ptson day 47 only to see this dwindle to 7.37pts with the one and only full losing progression (i.e. 4 losers on the run) during the 90 days. This was followed by 2 further losers and meant I had to dip into my alloted bank for this to the tune of -1.16pts which was fortunately successful! From then the profit has steadily risen again and reached a new high on day 88 of 27.41pts.

This 3 month journey has demontrated the precarious nature of progressive taking and yet it ends with a positive return - although if I had started on day 48 I would have just about recovered my losses or given it up as the alloted bank would have bust!

Would I recommend this approach? Well based on the results of this 90 day effort I would say yes! But based on my betting style and my feeling for this throughout the 3 months I would have to say no! I reached the 3rd step level quite a few times and this was uncomfortable - when I lost the whole profit on day 52 I probably would have stopped despite allocating a set bank for this and only using a tiny amount to support the progressive plan.

Will I carry on? Well with a hard earned 24pts profit and being in the middle of a progression it would be churlish not to! Ideally I would like to double this profit and take out 50% so that when the inevitable happens I would effectively be betting with money that had no attachment while at least I had put something away from my somewhat stress laden endeavours!

So will the inevitable occur before this aim is attained? Probably - but nothing ventured...famous last words etc. I will continue the endeavour on a new thread as this was a bit of a hi-jack of 'To P or not to P.'

imo Syni,it's all down to the risk/reward ratio, and this doesn't do it for me,although to p or not to p isn't an option for me these days, must be an age thing,:)
Thanks for the trip with this, you seem far less cynical than me though,I even have Diogenes:):drinks:

Thanks Hayzee - You are right and this type of high risk betting is not my thing usually, but as Diogenes philosophised...'Most men are within a finger's breadth of being mad'...and this is of course is pure madness which may be proved after the next bet! (greek philosophy and gambling - classic stuff!)

Just as a finishing note yesterdays level 3 bet lost so it's a level 4 bet at 2am! The black swan is circling above!!!

9/12/13 Bet Level 3 result; Dallas Cowboys -1 over the Chicago Bears (NFL Football) @ 2.02 Marathonbet x 4.85pts 45-28 -4.85pts

Current Bank Day 91; +19.15pts

10/12/13 Bet Level 4; Kentucky -11½ over Boise State (NCAA College Basketball) 1.91 x 10.19pts

Get the bike clips ready! It's +28.42pts OR -10.19pts to leave the profit at +8.86pts!

btw,I also have dodgy ankles :)
hope the bet is profitable, for me,it would be well out of my comfort zone, into an area of self harming :drinks:

Bet Level 4 Result!

Kentucky -11.5 over Boise State(NCAA College Basketball) 1.91 x 10.19pt 70-55 +9.27pts (never in doubt!!!)

Current Bank Day 92; +28.42pts

Won the level 4 bet with Kentucky leaving 4 pts to spare...phew! Onward and er...upward! This is one for any adrenalin seeking bettor who has masochistic tendencies, or as hayzee concurs, those with pyschological challenges! I may continue this madness on a new thread but I may take out a little bit from the bank and just use what's left to start again until it blows or builds!
This definitely concludes the 'P' ing adventure on this thread from me.
