Sorting A Card Out

it's clear from the horses listed that it was handicaps and better class conditions races. Mark Of Esteem and Hagwah being the only non handicap selections.

Just a quick correction here. Hagwah's race was a handicap where he carried top weight of 9-7.

But that's not the point of my post. The point is this:

It's funny how people keep mentioning G.R. of Lincolnshire's letter published on Sep 28, 1996 but never mention the follow up by M.G. of Kent whose letter was published on Nov 9, 1996.
Here he gives the same selections as G.R. in Mark Of Esteem, Orchestra Stall, Select Few and Crowded Avenue. He also considered Squire Corrie and Chris's Lad. Plus his own other selections and actually names his solitary loser.
But whereas G.R. described his winners as "winners IN a race".
M.G.'s were found using his interpretation of VDW's Best Bet/Next Best Method.

I think somewhere on either here or Gummy archive someone suggested that was actually Guest. I'll have to go and find what was put forward, but could be worth a look.

I suspect VDW was say any horse he selected was a winner IN a race though.

See what happens when I stray out of those first 3 or so in the weights. Gave the winner a serious look on handicap alone, but also noted Murphy was booked having ridden him to victory when with previous stable. Didn't even have a saver.Screenshot 2024-08-31 at 13.59.08.png

That is what I've been told (MG = Matt Gray).

Well, it takes some doing to find a fancied Crisford horse who didn't win this week. But I managed it all the same.
The winner plum last last time out at roughly the same price it went off today. Beaten several times around the 6/1 in recent runs.
Involvement possibly left his race behind with a pointless venture over to France for a race worth the same as this handicap.

Had the two short priced favs beat but couldn't get past the 3rd fav. Last run looks like a prep sighter to me. Nothing in her form before suggested she was well handicapped.

Ok Jenny K,
I thought he was Matt Kent, but it could well be Matt Gray from Kent.

Ok so Nogos Dream is a bit of a hound, but once again idiotic jocks trying to make their run on the inside at Brighton just don't seem to watch other races and make a mental note of where the winners come from. Drives me mad they don't use their brains.
