Snooker

This is not good, the best player in last years World Championships reduced to a husk, hope he come back from whatever he has got going on , hard to watch.
Very sad to see. It has to be a frustratung game and many players have been in the depths in the past. Certainly the black in the semi final must go through his mind constantly. Hopefully his friends can help him through this even if it's just a break from the game or sort out any personla matters. Not good to see in anyone.

Last 16 today and after today becomes best of 11 which should make it easier for the higher ranked players.

Only 2 top 16 left after Higgins went out to one of the players of the season, double ranking event winner, Jak Jones.

These the official ranking and mine and at the end the season iffucual rankings of the last 16. Brown and Donaldson needed the points to help their end of seson tour survival chances as outside the top 64 before this event so they are going well, Brown with home advantage. Craigie and Baranowski also trying to preserve their card at end of season though with advantage of no points to be deducted for previous performances.

Some big opportunities for players to make their firs final or win the event.

Can't enter in usual format.

Quarter finals and best of 11 now favours the stronger players with intervals. Most of the higher ranked players won yesterday.

A North East clash between Slessor and Craigie today. With Williams and Wilson the favourites though Jak Jones and Dave Gilbert sontinue thir excellent seasons.

Now that I have started using AI for finding things out this solves a lack of interviews for non TV subscribers. I have posted my ratings this week and a little surprised the lasct couple of days at the big prices on offer for Elliott Slessor. He won well last night but currently 4-1 down to Craigie, he himself returning to his form after his medical problems. AI gave me this:

While Slessor successfully battled past Ricky Walden in the previous round, he publicly admitted in his post-match interview that his cue tip was not performing correctly and that he was unable to change it before his match against Craigi.e. Because a faulty tip severely limits a player's accuracy, cue action, and positional control, bookmakers immediately reacted to this disadvantage

The semi finals give the tournament a more expected look. Wilson and Williams impressive today. Jak Jones scrambled home against Donaldson with low scoring and needs to up his game against Williams. Craigie as mentioned above had his chances made easier as Slessor worried about his tip. Craigie's best effort since his medical issues and just about guarantees he remains on tour next season. A yop 32 player before the problem and good to see him showing up well again.

Still 11 frames tomorrow.

Two deciding frame semi finals and Jak Jones came back to make his 3rd final of the season, a win would put him on the brink of the top 16 but with so few points to lose the rest of this season his place is virtually guaranteed at some point. Now he will be hoping to make the Masters by getting in soon.

Two tough games in 2 days for him though so Wilson with the advantage of playing in the afternoon may be a big help. 17 frames today.

A game too far for Jak Jones but still an excellent season so far and on Saturday we start the International Championship in Nanjing, China with high prize money available.

For Jones, once the relevant points are removed from 2 sesons ago, he enters the top 16. Ding won that and now has a tough job on to retain his place in the 16.

These the ratings after those points removed, plenty competition for 16th place.
