Snooker

So we reach the last 16. 6 top 16 players lose and 1 withdrawn so only 9 left and some close games in store the next couple of days.

Zhao Xintong managed to lose after plenty of chances. A deciding black gives it to Zhang Anda 6-5. Bingham battled back well to overcom Higgins and played very well. He is so inconsistent at the moment but was close to his best today.

These the last 16 in draw and time order with the next games at the bottom.

Dave Gilbert and Liu Hongyu continue their excellent seasons so far with Gilbert the top points and money earner so far.

…. should be an interesting match Selby v Wilson I did not realise that Selby had such a large rating. ;)

Yes Delboy99 Delboy99 , Selby is third on my ratings. Had a good season last year and playing well today. Wilson a little off peak after his efforts in Shanghai a fortnight ago. These the current with the pink the current top 16 on the official. Si Jiahui set to drop out at the next event unless he can make the Final at least, official ratings that is.

Hossein hammered off Bingham today so he is set to drop a fair way on this. Bingham continued his efforts after overcoming Higgins.

Bingham not happy, don’t blame him, blatant stuff.
Hadn't seen that O Outlander . At least it didn't affect Bingham's game. Bingham has some wild swings in form but looks at his current best this week. Big chance against Zhang tomorrow. Only 3 official top 16 players left in as the lack of match practice has caught up with them.

Noppon and Gilbet had very poor seasons last year and making up for it so far. Noppon, I guess distracted by his new child and Gilbert another with wild swings in form but mostly bad last season. A win for Gilbert tomorrow would mean he has already earnt more this season than last.

Noppon a great win over O'Sullivan but a tough game against Murphy, the player of the week. Bingham as we can see fired up, but Zhang another on the recovery track from a couple of poor seasons before last one.

Selby in great shape against a below par Wilson, a tough game against Robertson is likely though as he has recovered his form after a poor show in Shanghai.

Semi Finals still 11 frames. High stakes now with an extra £50,000 for the winners and £150,000 more for winning the Final!

Selby the last to p16 player and still in excellent form. Bingham at his best but Selby maybe a step too far? Noppon beats Murphy and another great effort From Zhou who won the decider against Gilbert.

These are the official rankings. Sure to be a finalist who has never won a ranking event before.

Final over 19 frames for £150,000 as mentioned yesterday.

Saengkham continued in his best ever form but Selby is close to topping my rankings now and is in similar great shape. It will be tough for Noppon to complete his fantastic week with defeats of O'Sullivan and Murphy. On official ratings Selby would go 5th if he wins and Noppon , now 27th would go to a career record 17th.

Selby wins the title, his 26th as he rook control in the 2nd session. A bit of controversy over a miss called by the referee, when Noppon thought he had hit the ball. after a few minutes looking at TV cameras he agreed he hadn't. Then missed it again before hitting next time. He was 4-2 up at the time and ahead in the frame. He ended up 4-4 at the end of the session but Selby upped the pace in the 2d session.

So I have taken the Saudi points off the official rankings going into the Wuhan Classic, starting on Sunday. we are heading for a new number 1 on their rankings as Trump loses the half million first prize. Xintong tops it currently but plenty of opportunities next week with a £175,000 first prize.

For Delboy99 Delboy99 this is a chance for Lisowski to end in the top 16 but as he is already out of the event there are opportunities for those below, most of them out as well! The ones in green still in the event.

Wuhan Open starts on Sunday but missing a few days so this is the draw.

There are 4 wildcard matches held over in the round of 96. As usual the wildcard players have not been announced so can't do those. THe 4 players in green in this draw for the last 64 are playing the wildcard so may not be in this round.

Robbie Williams will not be entertaining us in Wuhan as he has withdrawn allowing Mark Williams a bye to the last 32. Mark Allen had already withdrawn giving Michael Holt a bye. Also just seen that Oliver Brown has withdrawn so a bye for Kyren Wilson.

So these are the 14 remaining last 64 games. The other 16 have been played in England so will update on return on Sunday with the last 32 draw.

Wuhan starts to take shape with the last 32 round starting at 12.30 this afternoon.

There is a bye in this round for Chris Wakelin as Steven Hallworth has withdrawn. In the last round a few top 16 casualties. John Higgins followe Mark Allen and withdrew. Ding lost to second time round pro, Liam Davies who has had a great start to the season. Wu Yize a little below form was beaten in the decider by an excellent effort from Zizins, who is also on a new tour card and battling well.

Wu has followed Zhao from last year in taking time to adjust to the World Championship win. Understandable with all the attention and the time he has spent back in China with these last 3 events.

So this is in draw order, with Wakelin playing the winner of the Xiao v Page match. Still over 9 frames today and tomorrow.

The battle for Official number 1 continues with Wu the first to drop out for the leader at the end of the event.

Last 16 in Wuhan tomorrow. Casualties today include Wilson and Murphy but mostly top 16 in control. Zizins somehow managed to lose after a lot of chances against Maguire who now meets an in form O'Sullivan.

Not looking good for Mark Allen, hope he is ok.

Mark Allen has pulled out of the upcoming British Open and English Open for personal reasons.
In the British Open in Cheltenham, Allen was due to face Wang Xinbo in the opening round on Monday August 31. Instead, Allen will be replaced in the draw by Patrick Whelan.
In the English Open in Brentwood, Allen was due to meet Sam Craigie on Monday September 7th. Craigie will receive a bye to the last 32.

Quarter Finals tomorrow after a clean sweep for the favourites today. Chang Bingyu the only non top 16 player left faces Trump next. O'Sullivan plays his nemesis Selby, been in great shape this week Ronnie and Selby not as sharp as last event but expect it will be close.

You just posted a I put tomorrow's games up. Ronnie has been in great form this week, lost 5 frames but obviously Selby is a step up on who he has played and if Selby was in full gear would doubt he could beat him, but he does seem a little sluggish this week.

These the last 8 and their official ratings. Still 4 battling for the number 1 spot. Trump has held it fo a long time but looks competitive for a while now. Zhao most likely to lead soon as few points to come off before the World Championship.
