Snooker

A top heavy draw and some of the likely winners and old favourites have gone already from the Euro qualifiers.

The last 32 this morning and afternoon and then the qualifying matches tomorrow. After that the rest just have one more shot at making the Tour unless they get a wildcard?

Out are Robert Milkins (lost 4-3 to Duane Jones with 2 of the top players levaing the tour from last season), Allan Taylor, Gong Chenzhi, Wang Yuchen, Bulcsu Revesz, Sanderson Lam, Mitchell Mann, Farakh Ajaib, Haris Tahir, Mark Davis from the more likely of last years tour leaders.

In Thailand Huang Jiahao, who finished 95th on last years rankings has regained his place this morning. at 31 one of the older Chinese players and will need to step up a few gears to challenge more on tour. Another Chinese player will qualify later from Thailand, either Chen Ruifu or Liu Yang, neither have been on tour before.

Qualifying day in Leicester with these 4 games starting at 10am over 7 frames to gain a tour place for next 2 seasons.

Cheung Ka Wai and Liam Davies were relegated at the end of the season so try for an immediate return. Been some close 4-3 games for Davies who has competed well to reach the decider. O'Neill last on in 2023, O'Sullivan in 2024 and Young in 2025. The rest would be newcomers.

A tough way to get on tour. Some rumours it is changing next season, surely now they have a sort of global challenge tour in the diffeent areas would make it a much fairer system over a ranking of say 6 or more events in each region? Remove the easy passages that some qualifiers receive as well.

Liu Yang won the other place in Thailand.

Liam Davies, Cheung Ka Wai, Sean O'Sullivan and Phil O'Kane all successfully negotiated the Q School gauntlet to earn two-year tour cards on the final day of event one in Leicester.

Welsh 19-year-old Davies bounced back from tour relegation last month with a 4-2 defeat of fellow ex-professional Dean Young, to secure his status for the next two years.

Davies is one of Welsh snooker's brightest young prospects. This was underlined in 2022, when a victory against Aaron Hill, aged 15, made him the youngest ever match winner at the World Championship. That record stood until this year when it was eclipsed by Poland's Michal Szubarczyk.

A 10-9 loss at the hands of Marco Fu in this year's World Champinoship qualifiers put paid to Davies' run as a professional. However, he quickly recovered ahead of Q School. He scored three 4-3 wins en route to today's final round, where a break of 134 was the highlight in his 4-2 win over Young.

...... seem to have caught up a little as my laptop died recently and I had to get it replaced. Hope I have not missed much. ;)
Good to see you back Delboy99 Delboy99 . Not missed much, young Thai girl won the World Women Championships, her first success in an event, 18. Ronnie won the Global 900 and is now playing pool in China.

Qualifying School 2 reaches the last 32 tomorrow and last 16 on the evening. Then the 4 quarter final winners on Sunday join the Tour.

These are the top 2 sections with one of the 8 sure to qualify. Carrington missed the first event with neck pains and likely has to overcome Wang Yuchen. Riley Powell knocked out Robbie McGuigan .

In the 2nd section it looks much hotter. Duane Jones and Mitchell Mann trying t oregain our place lead te way but Taylor and Ajaib are also recently relegated from Tour.

Section 3 Mark Davis, Joyce and Higginson all old favourites seeking to return, as are Lee and Tahir.

The last section as Milkins battles on though a little stressed. Revesz, Gong and Lam are also trying to get an immediate return to the tour and Thai player Chaikul looks decent.
