Selections in the style of Van Der Wheil

Poor result for the new VDW angle on Saturday, let's hope it's not a portent of things to come .
Lost 1pt (£10), debit 2pts, bank 199.
Monday stuff and on the AW today, which is not really my scene.
Kempton 4.20
Barracuda Boy dropped 2lbs challenged every chance ridden not quicken 3 of 10 -1L Ascot 6f 0-100 G.
Badr Al Baddor (C&D2D) up 3lbs headway not clear run faded 6 of 8 -3.5L Goodwood 6f 0-95 G.
Purcell dropped 4lbs headway challenged kept on won 1 of 7 +hd Chester 0-90 GS.
Freddy With A Y dropped 6lbs ridden waekened 7 of 10 -10L Leicester 6f 0-90 GF.

Selection (on the basis of polytrack form) Badr Al Baddor 2pts (£20) bet.

Hi Jack

The Layers look like they want to take on Badr Al Baddor

Badr Al Badoor has taken 32.6% ofthe matched bets but is 5.1 with the layers

Rivellino has taken 29% (Less than B-A-B ) but is lower odds with the layers 3.9

Purcell has only taken 10.9% but is on a little higher than B-A-B on 6.8

I would imagine that it is because B-A-B has been running in Fillies Only Handicaps (Three Wins have also been in Fillies Only Handicap ) Today is taking on the Colts without any allowance either.

Good Luck

Chesham

No VDW style selection from myself today. The Newton Abbot 3.50 with the best win percentage has 6 of 7 runners qualifying according to the 'rules', and elsewhere there is a dearth of winning form. My own quick pick order of merit:
Newton Abbot 3.50 (Timeform go 3, 6, 7 in comparison)
Western King - owing to best odds, lowest weight of the three.
Captain Kelly - a live danger
Strumble Head
Carlisle 5.05 (Timeform go 4, 6, 3 in comparison)
Alfreej - my quick check agrees with Timeform
Green Park
Talent Scout

Good to see some nice discussion on VDW! However reading all of the posts I am surprised at how detailed it has got as I thought it was simply winnings/number of wins and recent form, ie. won last three races, call it 3, came second last 3 races, call it 6 and just look at the first 5 or 6 in the betting.

There seems to be a lot more real form reading than I remember but that is not a bad thing.

The art of finding a true VDW selection seems the easy part Wizard,in comparison to getting 3 followers of the method to agree on the selection ...

Yes that does seem to be the difficult bit!

From my understanding (very basic) I am selecting the following today.

4.00 Lingfield Rainbow Beauty
4.40 Beverley Border Bandit
5.10 Beverley Rockweiller
5.20 Newton Abbot Buckhorn Tom
5.40 Carlisle Perfect Pasture
6.50 Carlisle Absent Amy

In another world a very long time ago(I think it was Direct racing or some such site) someone called EC quite well known on the circuit, used to post lays quite successfully & VDW style selections with a modicum of success, he went on holiday & I volunteered to take over for him. Although fairly successful I've never received so much abuse even after winners, was indeed a learning curve
all the best

well I don't care where they come from Mick, all are welcome on the SatPat,btw series 3 starts this week on the 28.9.13 :) (can't find the spam smiley...)

As hayzee so cryptically wrote different people use different methods to pick their VDW selections but my understanding of it is there should be 1 selection(race) a day. My actual point was not regarding VDW but 6 selections however you come by them is rather too many for me in 1 day. I really do hope you have a great day with your selections
all the best

I suspect if Peter Braddock's Method Form -Fitness-Class-Conditions had ever took off on the Forums you would have seen similar disagreements about the selection (s) He uses a similar Platform to VDW yet I have never seen a thread dedicated to his work and Peter Braddock work was over 300 pages compared to VDW's published work.

Wizard well done three winners from 4 and nice prices too, all in the top three on Ability and the same with Consistency Figures, in the top three

Good Luck
