Raceform Ineractive

Don’t subscribe to RI or RP members , but looking at mick mick reply I think they are identical, I use the RP app on my iPad and it freely includes the analysis and for the horse that mick mick mentions the comment are identical
The in-running comments seems the same, and from my experience I believe the ratings are the same , but RP amends them more reacting to subsequent form.
in-run comment from RP website, seems same just less abbreviated
Travelled strongly, towards rear, on outer from over 3f out, headway when up the centre from under 2f out, shaken up when outpaced 1f out, soon rallied and kept on well, eyecatcher (op 17/2 tchd 8/1 and tchd 10/1)

attached pic from RP app
What I don`t understand is, why are the race analysis free on the app but only available to subscribers on the website ?

Knowing the way of the world it is free on the app until they find a way of charging for in app purchases for different features, but who knows, it’s a great app , enjoy it while it lasts.

O Outlander Re your above i do not consider myself a good judge Re watching race re plays, so while i do still have a look Re a possible bet i tend to make most use of the RI in running comments. Its actually piddled me off to learn that these come from the RP. Back in the day Raceform often made mention of using two on course race readers for each meeting and they used to show photos of them when advertising.

One day i arrived extra early at Kempton and recognizing one went up and started a conversation. His knowledge of what a horse was doing during a race and why was mind blowing. These days what i suspect occurs is a bunch of far less experienced bods never leaving the office. ! But alas we have to work with whats available. !

Yes in RI you can make and store notes for a horse and occasionally i do Re a possible future target race, but the facility i like most is there Own Ratings one. Because once i rate a race those figs are shown in several areas of the database which i find very useful when profiling a top rated of interest.
When it was the old paper version of Race-form Note Book, I think Alan Ayers was one of the Comment writers nd they were excellent. I also liked the TF Perspective (Paper Version)

Cheers for this clarification as it helped me feel just a little bit better concerning this sorry situation. ! I do not feel that attempting to read form via an app would work for me.

Agree and i suspect that back in those days the race readers needed to work a long apprenticeship prior to being allowed to comment in print on same. Although i can share a rather disillusioning story from those times. A young man with a budding interest in racing was over the moon when getting a job with Raceform as a copy reader, but on only his third day in the office he was told to find two selections for The Raceform subscription tipping phone line. He panicked and protested that his knowledge was limited but was told just pick two short priced Favourites. !

Over the 50yrs i have subscribed to raceform form books i have on several occasions seen them start a tipping line and on every occasion these have eventually folded due to poor results. This is saying to me that the Raceform staff do not know how to make best use of there own products or worst still that said products are not that helpful anyway. Fortunately i have disproved the latter but it does make you wonder. ?

Another story i recall when reading an interview with Phil Bull who related that plenty of university graduates when being interviewed for a job with Timeform came in like lions and went away as lambs. Apparently Bull delighted in really putting them through the ringer Re there assumed knowledge of racing. Good job there was no positive discrimination in those days. :)

Made me smile, I remember having to help clear the kitchen table for my grandpa when i was a nipper so that he could spread out his papers in order to cross reference some bit of form from a few weeks ago ... always made my poor nan pull her hair out cos the table was in the kitchen and she had very little room to work with as it was ... four or five people trying to get up make a brew and grab something to eat before they got out the door to go to work, and my grandad oblivious to everything going on around him.

Memory smiles are the best kind of smiles :)

There is an app called “The Racing App”, I think possibly connected to Coral, that I like for race comments - gives a second opinion to RP or whatever else being used.

Sporting Life app also useful for free race replays (available on the SL website too).

With the additional positive of sharing them honors the good people who provided them. :) Re your above as a child i recall my grandad who with failing eyesight would sit with his face almost touching the TV box when the racing was on. He was not a punter but as a young man had trained as a Farrier and loved everything horses.

My Gran ( her name was Kate ) also had the small kitchen large family problem but produced some delicious meals. My fav being her bread and butter pudding. As an 11yo child raised in a small village she was sent to live and work in a large London home. The owner was the high court judge who gave the death penalty to the WW2 Traitor known as Lord Haw Haw as during the war every night he broadcast from Germany gloating about how many UK civilians had been killed by the Nazi bombs.

Both he and his Wife where kind to my gran during her time " in service " but thinking about this experience starting age 11 which was still common practice during those times makes you realize how fortunent future generations where. Kate lived until age 99 which is both good and less so because she was a big fan of The Queen and we all felt she was odds on to do the ton and receive the royal telegram as part of the celebration's.

I am not sure what the above has got to do with Raceform but feel its still worth the telling. :)
