IMRAHOR ...11/2
bet365

I thought he might turn the fav over on debut but shied away from the whip and beaten a length, 5L back to the 3rd. The winner CHEROKEE TRAIL went on to run in the autumn stakes, 7-8 and then ran in saudi and again well beat but both times was highly tried by gosden and has a mark of 94.
So it it would be fair to think IMRAHOR ran to a mark of about 88 at least and with normal improvement can be competitive again the stoute/moore fav here who is rated 88 having run two promising races including 1L 2nd to FIRST VIEW who has run 4 times since all at meydan and to be honest it is hard to weigh up. BORN A KING is another that ran a decent 4th on his only run donny hvy but it's difficult to know how good the race was but obviously he can improve. Afew others in this maiden that could be dangerous but i've had a bit ew on imrahor in the hope he is fit enough to do himself justice.

1.30 thirsk.....MOONLIGHTING 4/1

A 3yr old class 6 7f handicap full of poor horses and doubts about fitness but there some interesting numbers regarding MOONLIGHTING and i've got to have wee bet.

Her debut was hopeless after she fell out of the traps and best overlooked.
Next time she found herself finishing 2nd carlisle g-s over 6f behind TROUBADOR who eventually beat her 4L giving her 12lb but it's worth remembering that TROUB went through the ranks and is last race was a group 3, so not bad and looking at the 3rd horse SPACE ACT won next time out and now rated 76, the 4th horse has done nothing for the form but the 5th has won twice since.

Her last race was a class 5 thirsk 6f g-f and she jumped well and shared the lead until she was outpaced 2 out beaten 4L so nothing special but still worthy enough in this standard. The winner HARRY LOVE came out and won again and is now rated 82. The 2nd is fairly consistant and justifies a mark of 76, the 3rd rated 68 and the 5th 72.

The other joint fav is KILIK and ran well the other day over 8 1/2f wolv and should appreciate the drop back to 7f here, also is on a mark of 60 and on his best form might be a few pounds well in but no more imo.

Conclusion.....is that these numbers can be a little misleading at times but the form book says shes better than 60, trainer going fine and hopefully 7f on good to soft will suit her fine and of course she's ready to go, market might tell us more tomorrow.

2.15 newm 7f ...good.....KING RAGNAR 11/4

I know this is a another varian horse but will try and make the case for him, his debut at newb was ordinary any nothing much in the collateral form.
His second outing is difficult to weigh up in that he was 2nd to OTTOMAN COURT btn 6L who had earlier finished behind QUADILATERAL newb, so although rated 90 hasn't been seen since, the third horse 4 1/2L back also not seen since so no more than improvement for KR who won his maiden newc 6f staying on well to hold off GLEN SHIEL 79,

His opening run this year was much improved imo and in staying on to finish 3rd behind SMOKEY BEAR (well handicapped imo) and LAZULI who has since hacked up in a listed race at sandown, what struck me is how well KR having come under pressure at halfway but having been outpaced stayed on up the hill and if anything was closing a little on the front two, with 3 1/2 L back to the 4th.

Conclusion is i think 7f on good ground will suit and he might be 4 or 5 lbs better than his mark and with fallon claiming 3lbs I'm hopeful he can win here.

Race 8 - 4:25pm.
THE BETWAY LIVE CASINO HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3)
Robert Havlin, the rider of GOOD TIDINGS (FR), had fallen shortly after the start. The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident. It was found that the incident was accidental and caused by GOOD TIDINGS (FR) taking a false step, causing Havlin to be unseated.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference throughout the final furlong when the winner, VOLCANIC SKY, ridden by Cieren Fallon, interfered with HOLY KINGDOM (IRE), placed second, ridden by Dane O'Neill. The Stewards considered that the interference had improved VOLCANIC SKY’s placing as the gelding had carried HOLY KINGDOM (IRE) left-handed for some considerable distance, with the margin between the two runners at the line a nose. The placings were revised as follows: First, HOLY KINGDOM (IRE); Second, VOLCANIC SKY. Fallon was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed his mount to drift left-handed under a right-handed drive.

4.50 wind ....CHICHESTER 2/1

I thought this horse was unlucky last time behind YES MY BOY who having won a t newc was giving 7lb to CHICH but the form book suggests YMB to be about a 90 horse O R is 88, anyway it looks to me like CHICH should be higher than 79 and every reason to think he is on the upgrade.
The lingfield sectionals were a bit complicated to me but i do think they were fine and confirmed he was running on well enough, 2/1 is nothing great but i'm probably tempted because of so few bets, so we will see.
