for me playing the placepot is always about thinking " what if ? " . if the Favs are placed in 3 or 4 of the races the Pot will pay poorly. I have not looked at the card @ Southwell in depth but it has a quite nice shape about it but I would be concerned that the races are not very competitive.
The Racing Post betting forecast is a really good guide.

i play the placepot now and again but thought if i put it on here it would concentrate my mind to try it daily. i was lucky enough one sunday 3 years ago to win at placepot at stratford that paid well.

i try to look at the whole card at each meeting before deciding were to do the placepot, as you say getting the favourites unplaced is the secret to a good payout but when to leave them out is the question.

Good luck with this.
I have tried placepots over the years and found them very frustrating although I always do one if I attend a race course.

Quite al lot of the lads in our local pub, which is just across the road from a bookies, do placepots but have no idea about how to do perms, just do one line. They do this with football accumulators as well, no idea of tying to get at least some return.

no placepot today due to grandchildren sitting from 8am to 4pm. what a day, were is the wife when you need her ( working ). i do like to do the perms on the placepot and pick a main line as well. then if your first choices come in you feel pleased with yourself
