HRB System Testing

I'll use bfsp from now. Makes things easier too. The system marked 2 I changed already, as it relied on knowing the fav at sp. I'll keep it going using early favourites as qualifiers for now and run the tweak alongside. That will have fewer qualifiers.

2 - 4:50 Southwell - don't call me oscar
6 - 3:10 Wolverhampton - cadeaux power
10 - 4:20 Southwell - pyrshan

Wish I'd had just to put these in the tipping comp!

2 - 4:50 Southwell - don't call me oscar N/R
6 - 3:10 Wolverhampton - cadeaux power 1st
10 - 4:20 Southwell - pyrshan 3rd

nedloh nedloh was that at SP they paid 3 places? just to fill in yesterdays results. I've got them in as 3 currently, but that obviously changes the results.

Is the spreadsheet calculating wins as profitable E/W bets too?

if your going to use Betfair go back to the old sheet, there is no need for the second column you put in
BfSp can be got here
http://form.timeform.betfair.com/daypage
Yesterday Card Game came third in 6 runner race, with 2 non runners so Bf paid 3 places. The returned SP really has nothing to do with it.
If your in doubt about how many places Bf pay, look at the site above, If you see a 4 runner race, look under the result and if it shows 4 or more nr's then 3rd place is paid and the odds shown are what is paid (forget about SP)
The win and place bank are calculated seperately because its a "ratchet" plan spreadsheet,
upload_2015-3-2_19-59-22.png
it also shows the ew P/L
upload_2015-3-2_20-0-20.png
Only 0 for a unplaced selection, or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 for placed selections should be entered in column G
If you want it to continue at level stakes just put 1 in every time the stake shows more than 1

one reason I laid it out so, was because if your trying out something you can see how both parts of the ew are doing,
if it only showed ew it could be showing a profit when in fact the place side could be losing badly

nedloh nedloh Yeah I found the odds via timeform, just wasnt sure if following non runners betfair reduced the places for new bets, as a bookie would.

I also thought it may be better having the places so i can keep a record of the finishing position. I guess it's either win place or lose and doesn't really matter though.

2 bets for tomorrow

9 - 3:50 Newcastle - Vinny Gambini
10 - 4:20 Newcastle - Weapon of Choice

@Holty10
don't forget your last bet today was not placed, it finished 3rd but not enough runners, would 3rd in a 3 runner race have any meaning?.
with Bf if a market is put up with, say, 8 runners and 1 bet even let it be the min of 2 is placed and then theres a nr they still pay 3 places.
if theres a nr before a bet is placed its only 2 places and won't show in their results as a non runner.
If you have a bet matched and then there is a nr your odds will be reduced.
I would suggest you go back to the 1st spreadsheet

nedloh nedloh Thanks for the info on the place market, I guessed as much looking at the bfsp place odds. significantly less than expected. So using the timeform bfsp place price I assume the places paid is before any non runners?

If you check my table I have it placed 3rd with 2 places paid, hence not being counted as a place.

Don't forget to take the 5% commission off as well, this can make a big difference to the P/L
once a bet is struck the places are determined by the number of runners at that time
@Holty10

Yeah I already added that feature back in, filled in the original to make sure it is all summed up correctly.

With regard to the placing though, you mentioned betfair paid out 3 places on the Card Game race yesterday. If this were your test would that go in as a place at BFSP or not?

@Holty10
Yes because there was a payout
I had it backed with real money myself and it goes into my spreadsheet
I can put up another spreadsheet showing level stakes as well as this ratchet spreadsheet if you want

3rd again, no place.
