The riverbanks and the rocks are amazing. I'm guessing that the foamy water must be difficult to get just right.
Many thanks for sharing your work with us, i keep expecting to see a scrunched up betting slip or two by the side of the canvas :)

Had a rough coupla days betting so sat back ... my 8/1 horse was 15 lengths clear on Monday when it fell at the last... that tells me something... get the paints out and chillax and regroup. Wish I'd seen Mlmrobs tip today though :)
 
Trying a new medium acrylics... the colours dry quite quickly so trying a more primary style.
Two posted show a wet woodland walk and below it a lady walking home down a wet street at night ... I can see how the impressionists used light to similar effect ... there is a lot of movement in the colour ... not sure how it might adapt to open landscapes yet but enjoying the change in style at the moment :)pppp.jpg
 
Hi Poz Poz,

I read about a technique for acrylics. It is scratching through multiple layers but using the scratching as the form. Its meant to show great movement.

I have no link. I read about it years ago so most probably in some novel. From recollection the artist in the book was painting landscapes but the actual blades of grass were formed from the scratching comb. Colour was controlled by the depth of the scratch.
 
Poz Poz Truly great - what a gift and like most true things reflects life to a T - If the Lab has a red collar - that's me 1998 to 2013 happy days - If I can ask how long did that take ? If it is Ok I want to copy that and print it.
 
Aaaw shucks that's very kind of you markfinn markfinn . I really am just an amateur trying to portray feelings in colour and in light .... photographically my paintings are rubbish as they just don't look real... how I feel seems more important when painting and if I have meant that bit to you then that means a lot to me fella ... thanks for your kind comment :)


I guess you still miss that labrador :(

Poz Poz Always had dogs until that last one and if that one could have been cloned well ....... but ready for a break from the tied down routine and with a OTT house proud wife we certainly don't miss the work involved - but if you are on your own and have the time and place you cant whack em

Personally I love photo realistic paintings but I also admire people who do their own thing, finding your own niche has to be the way forward and looking at your latest painting I have to say is a great piece of art, I love the plain colour of the man with the umbrella caught in his stride by the wind, the dog following behind and then all that fantastic colour around, it truly is a lovely piece.

I went last week to the National Gallery in London with my kids and would prefer your painting to some of those :)
