Woodland1.jpg Well I've been off to the woods this time but annoyed that it looks a bit too pretty just down to the selection of the wrong brown for the background when it was meant to look remote and lonely. About 2/3 done as I am waiting for the postie to deliver my scriptwriter paintbrush with which to do the branches and detail... thanks for looking :)
 
This week I took a view of the Newlands valley at the Lake District and crossed it with a view down from The Langdales (artistic licence is great :) )
The two focus points were to develop better colour perspective than in my previous pics and also to contrast the higher level wind-blasted and therefore leafless trees with their lower level Lakeland cousins who stand resplendent in Autumn colours... enough piffle here's the pic :)

Cheers everyone .. I watched the artists on Sunday night and have decided that as yet I don't have a 'style' plus the thought of painting people sends shivers ... next week they have to do portraits :help:
The winner will have both a 'style' and be able to turn their hand to everything methinks which is honestly way beyond someone who's greatest achievements to date with 'live' things is seagulls at half a mile range :gotcha:
 
Poz Poz I do all the painting in my house but its on the walls "mainly". Yours look good to me, two in particular, the lake district and the woods. Do you, or would you, sell any of them?

Eventually is the answer... I have written 2-line poems/descriptions for each one and my m8 who is an engraver is making small plaques to go on the frame at the bottom of each. The plan is to work hard at painting as many as I can before I'm turned 60 then to hold small scale exhibitions under the name of 'The Poet Painter'. My target is 50 paintings before next April and I'm only up to 10 at the moment. I would like to take them into schools too and talk to the staff and children about how the words I have written are to help with the context of what I was trying to achieve. I would then invite the children to make pictures and try and describe them with words or poems in their subsequent lessons .

You see I'm at best an amateur but would love to encourage others to have a go ...
By way of an example the very top picture on here will carry the engraved plaque

"Neath craggy spires, achromic white
A river bends and ghosts from sight"

and the mountain pass painting from the previous page will bear the plaque

"Though mountain storm rampaged with dread
The melt, with calm, and beauty bled"

Then yes ... I will sell them once I have achieved my goal :)
 
The 2 plaques from the latest ones will read...

"Midst beauty never lost on he
The distant swirl the anglers glee"


"In silence, stilled of ambient noise
And eerie glows from forest poise"

Wow you have a talent Poz Poz I particularly like the "and so to the woods" picture. I used to do a bit of graffiti in my younger days (leagally) but people question whether or not it is art or more than likely vandalism when not done legally. Keep it up and look forward to future posts
