My daughter had some of her graduation work commissioned / exhibited in top galleries in Edinburgh & Glasgow she is an art teacher now something she always wanted to do.
Part of her graduation portfolio below, she basically painted in miniature.

Evolution and Migration are exactly the kinds of art I seek out in galleries being a Dali fan from my youth... she is way out there ... I simply dabble compared :)

I like the first one best with the bird and the train is so pleasing on the eye, my favourite is Constables with the rainbow over the church but i like most of his work, i started a copy once but did not finish it, i suppose i am into guitar more now so i never paint.

But so nice to see the pictures though, i like allsorts even by Joe down the road if it takes my eye, like my music tastes also if it sound good to my ear then fine.

She`s only 24, graduated from Duncan Of Jordanstone University in Dundee then went onto Glasgow Uni for her teaching degree, that is where her real passion lies.
Belive me poz, your paintings are as good if not better than anything seen on my travels, cant speak highly enough of your work.
During her 4 years at DOJ we were invited to various presentations / shows etc
What passes for art these days can be kind of surreal, eye of the beholder sort of thing, one guy poured a carton of milk over his head on stage this was seen as groundbreaking, the luvvies were all over that.
One of my daughters friends who had visited us at home in the past, featured naked in a video writhing around in some dirt on a concrete floor, she actually stood next to the wife and I during the viewing, she was fair away with herself afterwards, I did`nt really know what to say.
Im sure those more experienced could see what she was trying to convey, all I could see was a young lass making an exhibition of herself.
The wife went quiet also, think we were both a little out of our depth with that one.

Yep walter walter i suppose art is strange now a days, but i must admit i get drawn in sometimes i just go on long fast runs on my guitar, just playing very fast but i do keep to certain patterns so it is musical and then all the notes seem like a continues ray of tonality some people like it though, but i do like the medium and slow stuff a lot more but fast stuff is exciting to play at times.

Yes TheBluesBrother TheBluesBrother she is really good must hit around 20 nps with her sweeps already, also her fingers are longer than mine i have fairly small ones like Shawn Lane had. I use a few small sweeps in places, but mostly alternate pick and use a few legatos in places, i find alternate the best way for me and use it just a bit lighter in some of my passages, even hybrid picking like Shawn used in places messes me up, i can skip the strings without any real breaks in the sound because otherwise it seems to throw me out of sync.

She has great technique i only hope she learns to be more musical, but is very young yet and has super technique, at present she sounds like MAB alot and Yngwie Malmsteen with those constant sweeps, which i am not a real fan of personnally, although he really excelled with Far Beyond the Sun, i like that one alot and MABs Speed Kills is nice also.

I know at one time i learnt finger picking and 8 finger tapping also but dont practise that now. I say to anybody just learn the lick or arp slow until it is really ingrained in the subconscious, and then go for it fast and clean it up over time it is really just that. But stretches can take time it took me a year of constant stretching to play the augmented licks like Shawn did even slow, now i can go as fast as he could with just saying to myself constantly go faster and also being never satisfied, i do try for faster even it is just confidence and believing one can do it i suppose.

Poz Poz

I admire your work, haven't you ever exhibited your paintings, there that good, the lady in red is out of the top draw.

No but am collecting the better ones and planning to attach lines of verse to each as The Poet Painter.
Yesterdays for example will bear the plaque within the frame:

"Can't you feel our souls ignite?
Shedding ever changing colours
In the darkness of the fading light"

Shiny poond for the source because you will be a fellow soulmate I reckon :)

The Tate Modern can be a bit pretentious like that but some are very amusing as well as thought provoking... the London luvvies have a lot to answer for regarding Kings New Clothes comments about contemporary art of course and young students are misdirected as a result. I think deep down we all know what is genuine talent and what is tosh and wet paper and done for effect rather than reason. Those paintings you posted are genuinely impressive and appeal as that which you would be proud to own and talk about to your friends. I think there lurks an artist in most people if they can discover the correct medium... I was rubbish when I tried ceramics for instance and am completely hopeless with wood tools as I don't possess what Edward de Bono describes as Pactical Intelligence... one of the higher orders of thinking... :)
