I am trying to do speed ratings like the Solidus, I only want to do AW racing, my problem is the course classifications. Does any one know them for the AW tracks, or how to calculate them.

Why not ask Mick Johnson, the guy who wrote the Solidus program

Hi Mike I did ask Mick, he told me he no longer uses the Solidus course classifications because of the change in the courses, and new courses, he did send me the data of course classifications which were once used, but it only has Lingfield, Southwell, and Wolverhampton, and Wolverhampton has also since changed.

That's one of the reasons I came up with the lbs per length figures to cover every racecourse configuration and distance.

It is not the racecourses that have changed, it is racing surfaces, hence the need for accurate going allowances and standard times.

One of the advantages I have over Dave Edwards when calculating going allowances, especially over the jumps on soft/heavy going,
is that I use the winning horses official rating as a class guide, if they haven't got an OR ratings I revert to my Racing Post Rating conversion
chart to access a horses OR.

Working out a racecourse classifications is not a viable proposition to me, I cannot see how that would help.

Mike.

Thanks Mike, can you please help me with this how do I bring speed ratings in line for class of race, I sometimes end up with a horse in a class 6 running faster than a horse in say for example class 3, how do I change them to calculate for this. Thanks

Hi All

Just going by my study over the last few months , on 2yo races only , I would put the courses in this order , Kempton 1st then Southwell , and Lingfield and Wolverhampton , hard to class them but I would say my own rating would be Kempton 10 then southwell 8 then Wolverhampton and southwell both 7 if that makes any sence , but not a great deal between them , this is done on horse first time out aimed at these tracks as there first or second run any other run did not count
