I think you can consider yourself lucky that they even replied to you! From what I've read on a couple of French forums, they don't like very much the idea of interacting with the general public...
I wrote to FG once to clarify what was meant by the prefix "Succ." before a name. I took it to mean successeur, which I could understand in the case of a trainer or owner where they had retired or died, but I began to doubt my assumed translation when I saw it appearing before the names of jockeys every now and again! I know some jockeys can give a good impression of a dead body riding a horse, but I don't imagine it's legal to actually declare a dead jockey, even a retired one, as the designated rider for the race. Anyway, I got no reply.
The investment arm of France Galop is extremely long: the Parisian tracks plus Deauville and some tie-up with Enghien; the PMU; Equidia; Paris-Turf and its sub-journals; all licensing. There's so much they could do to improve radically the data available to the public, but it seems that there is no will to do so. Pity.

I totally agree with that.
I feel that everything is done to ensure that professionals are the only ones with some data and when I see the data available to foreign races, I find that France takes a long delay.
The first time I had a copy of the Racing Post in the hands, I hardly understood anything to racecards ...
So I just read the articles speaking of races, saying "Ils sont fous ces Anglais".
In the end you could say "Ils sont fous ces Français".
