Forum audio (useful for bad eyesight)

Outlander

Stallion
Might not be useful for most people but my Microsoft Edge browser just updated and there is a feature that reads aloud webpages , I just set in on davejb davejb later days post and very pleasant female voice read out his post perfectly.
My eyesight is horrific for reading and straining to read for any length of time puts me off, anyone similar issues this is well worth a look.
Just right click , select Read Aloud and click where you want it to start reading from.
To me this is one of the best features I’ve seen for a while, is excellent if you have the same problems as myself.
Apparently works on any webpage. But works nicely for reading forum posts.

O Outlander thanks for that, I'm losing my sight, though luckily (?) the problem is one where the peripheral vision goes first until it all shrinks to nothing... a bit like the white dot that used to provide most of the entertainment in early TV when you switched it off! It does mean I can read, just that I can't avoid bumping into/falling over things, find a web browser to handle that as well and I'll be quids in!

Seriously though I'll check it out, as I'm gradually getting things together for when the last bulb goes out.

Listening to your post made it stick in my mind more and from what I can see I keep watching races and saying afterwards Dave picked that winner, seemed to have picked a lot of winners today, well done.
She is a little slow reading but when my exes start straining will definitely use the feature.

I have no ex’s just a current for 20 years but the typo highlights the vision problem
I know mate, just jesting. Seriously though have you had them looked at or is it a condition ? - A few years back I was getting a lot of eye strain , headaches etc, deep down I knew the problem stemmed from staring at computer screens all day. Have had a few different contact lens set-ups since then as last time I had them checked there was some deterioration since the check up before that. I have a friend who worked in IT for over 16 years and his eyes are basically destroyed now. A lot of the current younger generation will be in the same boat in years to come as staring at devices seems to be the norm.
