Formula for calculating RPR figures

Mr G

Newbie
Does anyone know the formula for calculating the Racing Post RPR figure?
I would like to do some back testing but don't have any historical figures to work with, if anyone happens to have any historical data that would be great also.

I would think the formula is just the same as the official rating whereby they rate the winner against the second in terms of beaten lengths and weight. They have their own weight per length scale 3.6lbs per length for 5f 3lbs for 6 etc. If you go to the My Ratings page and click on my ratings in the top left box will be a "lbs per length" for that particular race so you can go through past results at all race distances and see what lbs per length they were using.
I don't think they have an automatic process as I think it is done by a team of handicappers. I may be wrong as I don't know but this might be helpful.

The RPR is the best raw figure they have done you then add or subtract to 10 stone obviously the older horses depreciate in time and a new raw figure is given
