Staking plans, there's a subject for you. The perceived wisdom is that they are probably best employed when a betting approach has proved consistently successful to level stakes (or a level return). However, I have not always used that dictum myself as in the 70's I used to follow the Dawson system, which was to win 5 points and recover losses on every bet, sheer madness. The selection by the way was the Sporting Chron Speed-plus, followed down the card at the principal meeting. Failing that the second fav in each race, same system. What can I say,'When the fun stops -Stop!'
I am not suggesting any of the above but a way of taking the boredom out of level staking on short-odds selections with the possibility of achieving an acceptable return. How about the roulette paroli staking plan for even money chances:
1. Stake 1 point on each bet until a win.
2. After a win stake the return plus a further point on the next bet (that would be 3 pts for roulette)
3. If it wins stake the returns on the next (6 pts roulette)
4. If it wins the coup ends and return to 1 pt (roulette win 12 pts - 2 stake pts = 10 profit).
